Guest guest
I was sure hoping you would forget about that. I got a new meter about nine months ago and still haven't took it out to use it. I have no clue how to use it actually. but I'm going to get it all out and figure it out. I use to check my sugar twice a day every day, but like everything else in my life I let it go as well. when I was still working I had a meter that required sight to read and I would have my supervisor take it for me. but now I haven't took my reading at home for more then a year. only in the hospital or the doctor office is the only way it gets took now. Now I know this is way bad of me. but the way I looked at it was I knew I was eating all kinds of bad and knowing how high my sugar was wasn't going to make me feel any better. I knew I felt real bad and I know we can't guess, we must test. but I haven't for a very long time and this to is fixen to change. I will get out my new meter to morrow and learn how to use it again. it is a well can't find the spelling right now. will send it to the list as soon as I find it in my note book. you would think all these changes I'm making all at once would send me over the edge. but I wish for my life to continue in the right direction and I also know I can't keep good control of my diabetes if I don't test 2 hours after a meal. you see, you guys have taught me how to talk the talk over the many years I have been a part of this list. but the big difference between you and I, is you guys can walk the walk and walk the talk. I only got the talk down. now comes the walking the talk for me. I really do appreciate you asking about my 2 hour reading. I really was going to let you know soon that I haven't been testing at home. but the meter is new and should work. might need new batteries, but I will get it to working and let you know what the reading are. Now soon as I find the information I got on the meter I will let you know. My lunch this day was. I had a 6 ounce rib-eye steak grilled, one cup of broccoli, zucchini and okra all steamed and quarter cup of jalapenos. nothing to drink and I got my carbs at 30 total. Guest guest
Mark, unfortunately, ignoring it does not make it go away! The meter is your best friend, it tells like it is! No judging, no criticizing and no nagging! it just tells you like it is! It is only when you know how different foods affect you, that you know you can control your BGS! My lunch this day was. I had a 6 ounce rib-eye steak grilled, one cup of broccoli, zucchini and okra all steamed and quarter cup of jalapenos. nothing to drink and I got my carbs at 30 total. Guest guest
Yes I know this is so. but ignoring it was the bad choice that I made and we see what happened to my A1C. When it goes up from seven to 13, well how much higher can it go before you kill over dead or land in the hospital? I don't plan to find out. I will get my meter out to morrow and take my reading and will continue every day from now on. I know a lady who says if you don't admit there is a problem, then there isn't really a problem. now you said, don't live to eat, but eat to live. well hell! if I can't enjoy what I eat when I eat, then why bother with a boring waste of time as eating? why cook if you can't enjoy it? I say if it taste good you best spit it out! If it taste bad, then you are on the right track. so what is a comfort food if we can't enjoy eating it? My lunch this day was. I had a 6 ounce rib-eye steak grilled, one cup of broccoli, zucchini and okra all steamed and quarter cup of jalapenos. nothing to drink and I got my carbs at 30 total. Guest guest
Betty, As said, that is not true. If you do a whole lot of exercise, you might need some starches, but the only way you would know this is to check your BG before and then 2 and 4 hours after exercising. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Betty Emmons Sent: Sunday, June 12, 2011 11:21 PM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Re: My lunch this day was. I have a question. I was told that a person with diabetes needed to eat a small amount of starch. 4 oz of rice, potatoes and the like, and that brown rice was better for you. Guest guest
I found the meter. now I got to read the Cd that comes with it and figure out how to work it. I played with it some to day, but can't figure it out. So to night or to morrow I will listen to the instruction. you know how us men hate to bother with instructions? I guess it is a man thing. I know the meter is my friend. we use to be very close when I first found out I was a type 2. but like a lot of things in my life it went forgotten until here lately. not using my meter is why my A1C got out of hand as it has. No excuse for it, but facts are facts. My lunch this day was. I had a 6 ounce rib-eye steak grilled, one cup of broccoli, zucchini and okra all steamed and quarter cup of jalapenos. nothing to drink and I got my carbs at 30 total.
