Guest guest
I've had the question "Do coffee enemas increase glutathione?" recently at least 3 times....so I wanted to share my answer with the group. Some women have thought that coffee enemas raise glutathione because of a description of the process of how coffee enemas work. But I believe the interpretation should be that coffee enemas increase the USE of glutathione in the body, not the actual glutathione itself. Here is a discussion of that, ( it mentions a product that I wouldn't waste time with though): http://www.oasisadvancedwellness.com/products/xeneplex.html .......Glutathione (when assisted by glutathione-s-transferase) removes toxic metals like mercury, lead and aluminum from the body....., Coffee has also been found to stimulate greater activity of the key enzyme system glutatathione S-transferase, which is responsible for neutralizing free radicals and harmful chemicals now commonly implicated in the initiation of cancer. The glutathione S-transferase enzyme is responsible for attaching the glutathione to the toxins in our bodies so that they can be removed. Without the combination of both of these compounds, the glutathione detoxification pathway is unable to adequately work. A coffee enema is not the most convenient way to help increase the body's ability to detoxify itself, and oral administration of glutathione doesn't work because the digestive system breaks glutathione down into its amino acid building blocks. Therefore, suppositories have been created to bring the benefits of a coffee enema to the comfort of your own home. Xeneplex suppositories contain glutathione to detoxify the body, as well as organic coffee, which is used to stimulate the production of glutathione-s-transferase, the enzyme that is required to attach these toxins to the glutathione molecule. I discussed this issue with a doctor that told us he and his wife do coffee enemas daily. He suggested the use of Alpha Lipoic Acid and N-acetyl cysteine as ways to supply glutathione. These ar acutally precursors to the antioxidant, and do not supply glutathione itself. The supplements can be used in conjunction with coffee enemas. The Gerson therapy proponents were very clear about the need for juicing along with the enemas...and that was why I asked Dr. Royal about this because I was worried about my husband doing the enemas daily but not always juicing. He said to use the supplements. So, either juicing, supplements, or both should also be incorporated with coffee enemas.Patty
