Try super low and slowly work your way up. Some people with methylation issues can't tolerate folic/folinic - so that's somethin to consider. I'm interested in any responses you may get - my son's dan wants us to do a trial of 5mthf even though we've agreed to stop the b12. I never think to email him and ask why until this subject comes up. I'm going to go do that now......From: jkryan34

My son's new DAN just prescribed 200mcg of folinic acid in addition to his mb12 which he has been on for 2 months. While his behavior improved on the mb12 significantly, he became overly sensitive, weepy, clingy with OCD. His DAN wanted him to try folinic acid again even though I told her that in the past, it made him extremely hyper. She wants me to try it for a month! Today, after taking 200 mcg of folinic acid for 3 days, he got in trouble at school for being "too goofy." This means very stimmy and disruptive to the class (he hasn't been in trouble since Sept.) Has anyone else had this experience w/ folinic acid? I am so frustrated.... Am I really supposed to allow my son to get in trouble at school? How can I try this for a month? I feel like his doctors are not listening to me!

You might also consider switching to 5mthf or folapro instead of folinic. It's a more bioavailable form and many that do terribly on folinic do better with 5mthf or folapro.

I say if he was doing great on the MB12 remove the folinic......some kids just can't tolerate....and you have to live!
