Hi ,

I'm sorry to hear that you are in this predicament!

I thought, perhaps mistakenly, that insurance companies were supposed to provide

care of mastectomy reconstructions? Or was it because the mastectomy was

prophylactic that they are saying they won't cover this?

The suggestion I can give you is to call or write Dr. Kolb in Atlanta, GA,

as she is very knowledgeable about getting explant covered by insurance.

Her website is www.plastikos.com and her email is

drkolb@...

She is excellent at returning email inquiries!

I wish you the best!

Patty

Mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. I developed an infection with in 3

months and had to have 1 implant removed and then a few months later started

over on that breast. Now looking back I can see that the ailments that I've had

are most likely caused by my implants.

with my left implant. I finally went to see my surgeon and PS in July 2008 who

said I had a III/IV Capsular Contracture, and that the implants needed to come

out. I told them to go ahead and schedule it and check with my insurance

company (me assuming that it wouldn't be a problem.)Now almost 7 months later my

left side is so much worse.

stating they wouldn't have covered my BPM in the first place. (My school

district changed insurance companies in 2003.) So I've been fighting my

insurance company since last August. I've had to get a lawyer involved and I

have 1 final appeal to present.
