When it happens I have to start to backtrack & ask myself, " what happened today

that made me want to eat all the time? What might I be avoiding by eating (many

times it's just because my house is a mess & I don't really want to clean it up

so might as well EAT). Another thing that I sometimes do is ask myself if there

is a particular FEELING that I am trying to STUFF down with food. Since my mom

died at the end of May I've been having waves of sadness come over me & I'm

trying to allow myself to feel that & not to mask it by stuffing my body with

food that it doesn't need. Stuffing emotions never works anyway, they always

come back & then I have the added guilt of having binged on top of the original

emotion. I have to tell you, though, with time & perserverance, these binge

periods are almost minimal now. Actually they are now pretty rare. I'm getting

much better at recognizing

break all those bad habits that I've developed over YEARS of over & under

eating. Even just listening to my own body signals took months to become natural

but it is getting to feel like I'm " getting it " finally.
