No, I haven't. I do research and decide what's going in my child's body. Whether it's from his DAN doc or his ND. Sometimes I agree and sometimes I don't............

Hi All-MY DAN doc has given me a rx for oxytocin nasal spray and is adding DMG to his regiment. I have done some reading on oxytocin, was wondering if anyone had experience with either of these good or bad? Thanks,

Heard lots of good things from others on Oxytocin over the years. I got an Rx from our DAN a couple months ago and I never filled it because it wasn't covered by our insurance.

We tried Oxytocin for a while. It didn't do much for us, except it made my son a

little bit more anxious, rather than less. That was the case with Gaba also for

him. Maggied.

Maybe, but I'm sticking it out this time w/ the oxytocin b/c our DAN said it could take a few months to work. So we'll see.

I don't believe oxytocin is something that builds up in your system.  It's kind of like melatonin, it either works or it doesn't.  Effects only last for a few hours - I'm not sure how many.  It's one of those things that addresses symptoms but doesn't fix the cause (why there's low oxytocin).

I might be wrong on this, though.  I only guess this because everyone I know that uses it uses it on an " as needed " basis.  Meaning, it's been several hours and they're starting to have behaviors - quick squirt of oxytocin and things get better quickly.  I don't know the dosing of it though so I don't know how many times you can or can't take it in a day.  Our DAN Rx'ed it compounded as candy - if that gives any indication of how it's dosed.  :)  She asked if I wanted spray or candy, I chose candy so I could put it in his lunch box.  :)  But we never got it and I never actually saw the Rx to know the details of how much and when to take.  But I'm pretty sure it's more along the lines of an " as needed " thing.

I would guess that if it's not working for you, time isn't going to fix that.

We are currently on oxytocin, for about 2 weeks now. Don't see anything yet one way or the other. We tried it for 30 days several months ago and saw nothing so I stopped it b/c it's expensive. I'll give it longer this time.

Our DAN has my 46-lb. 6 yr-old  on 40 u./ml per spray (nasal), 4 sprays a day. We've only been doing 2 sprays a day so far.

Hi

Just curious, can you share with me your dosage?

My doc has prescribed 2iu sublingual. Once per day.

This is the first time this doctor prescribed Oxytocin for ASD and I think this could even be the first in this country. So, I'd like to get some idea on the dosage prescribed in USA. Really appreciate if you could share. I am not sure if it goes by weight. My son is 36lbs.
