Last week someone was asking about what talking meters are out there. The

company of the subjectline is one that is not well known as it is just

getting started in this country. We did discuss it briefly in a thread a

couple of months ago and there was not enough information then to compare

it to other meters. They also have a talking combination glucose and blood

pressure device. Some of their glucose meters are available in canada.

Anything not covered below can be addressed by asking them.

The link below is for one of their meters and has a manual to download

which discusses the talking features. I also just got off the phone with

them where there were items not clear in the download. Below the link I

will discuss the talking features.

In short everything talks and guides by speech through all functions

including time and date setting. Battery status and temperature etc. have

a speech review.

Repeat is there. The only glucose related thing that does not speak is

when enough blood has been collected, a beep is heard instead. One can not

get too little or too much blood, if it doesn't beep there is not the right

amount.

Allglucose related parts of the meter speak including doing the testing

fluid test and it does not count in the memories. Those can be reviewed

and can be erased completely. It does the usual averaging of day week

month etc. and results can be downloaded and the software is free.

In addition to the above meter here is another one:

The difference is the latter has raised buttons for more tactile feedback.

All meter functions are otherwise the same. One additional feature it does

not have but the first does is the first can recharge the battery through

the usb port from a computer or similar device.
