I know a number of people who have high BP when at the doc's office, but

immediately goes down when they leave the office!

because I had a doctor take one reading and decide that I had hypertension.

Kind of traumatic for a 25-year-old to be told that! I finally switched

doctors (due to other reasons as well, and generally feeling like that one

was incompetent), and my new doctor got me to stop the medication and take

readings for two weeks at home, and declared that I have white coat

hypertension. Meanwhile my endocrinologist had been saying it was probably

white coat hypertension all along, too. So a year ago I stopped the

medication and don't have high blood pressure anymore.
