Guest guest
I just keep turning over in my mind how injust it is for the KOs, and how society willingly turns away from this evil in the home. What can we do, as KOs, to save the next generation? I wish we could make this board required reading for every mandatory reporter. There is no denying our experience. What can we do?? Seriously -- please, if you have ideas -- please share them. Laying awake at night, Tina
Guest guest
Something I noticed - my son's taking AP Psychology, so of course I looked up BPD in his textbook to see what the author would have to say about Grandma. There was about a page and a half - of the entire text - devoted to Personality Disorders. Of that, a short paragraph described BPD. That's all. Yet it looks to me like there are a LOT of undiagnosed BP's out there, and they each have a family going through confusion and torment. I just don't think we're that rare. Add to that, BPD looks so different from person to person - there have been a few movies with BPD characters, and one rather sordid made-for-cable movie called " Borderline " that got the behaviors right (but the BPD was a stalker, not a mom or dad). This is awfully hard to pin down and explain in the 15-second sound bite, 6th grade reading level that popular media seems to demand. Heck, some of us can't even convince our moms' psych doctors that she has it! I truly don't know what the answer is. It's a mess. > > > Subject: Required Reading > To: WTOAdultChildren1 > Date: Saturday, August 28, 2010, 6:29 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > I just keep turning over in my mind how injust it is for the KOs, and how society willingly turns away from this evil in the home.
