My son sometimes searches the fridge for scallions like crazy. He would eat them in no time and drinks tons of water with it. I always let him though, since it may be something his body needs? OOhh, he also eats oranges without peeling them? Any thoughts?

Hi. I know that a lot of times when we crave something we are deficient in something - or something not working right? possibly?.

Jimmy ate an entire lemon tonight and went to the frig for the last one. I have NO idea WHY he would do that.

I would 'think' vitamin C, but he gets about 600-800 mgs per day - which is high.

thoughts? laura :)

Orange peels are very high in oxalates.

My son goes after lemons like that, too. A homeopath instructed me long ago to give him lemon water to raise alkalinity as she felt he was quite acidic. He won't drink the lemon water but will eat slices of lemon anytime they are in the house. To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Fri, January 14, 2011 10:05:04 AMSubject: Re: Lemon Cravings

Yes actually, that is a deficiency in sulfur. How wild is that?

A good breakfast (if he doesn't have an egg allergy) is scrambled eggs with

salt, onions and garlic (it's what I feed my kids a couple times a week). If

you juice - an apple (golden delicious) carrot and celery for a drink (this will

put his potassium/sodium back in order).

Carrots and celery are high oxalate, so if you have this issue (which many of

our kids have) -- you can also juice fennel. (it's moderate on the spectrum)

w/an apple.

and eating orange peels is high in oxalates..my guess is that he does have an

oxalate issue. I think that is a magnesium def as well. I gave my son,

" Naturally Calm " last night...worked wonders. Isn't scouring the frig for

lemons.

It's a severe magnesium deficiency. I gave Jimmy " naturally calm " and this

quelled it. (the organic, raspberry, lemon) -- Toni, explained why this was

occurring and she nailed it for us. I have to find the email she sent me, or

TONI! chime in...

But, that being said, I adjusted his oxalates (to allow for other things that

were really working) along with Toni's suggestions, and I've got another flight

of stairs to the finish line...he's like a new kid. And the results were

FAST..less than a few hours.

I have to say that adding magnesium to my son's diet has calmed him down immensely. Enzymes, a good B complex and magnesium citrate and he is a different kid. He is also on SCD though so it isn't only the three supps helping him but they made a huge impact on his behavior. GrayTo:

People with oxalate problems actually crave oxalates. :-( I am not sure why.

I definitely know that but it is not very easy to stop him if he wants something. I wonder what is in orange peels that makes him eat that bitter thing?

Magnesium baths were HUGE here. Who'd have thought that such an easy, inexpensive simple thing could make a world of difference??? Zinc, too. My kid's a great responder to minerals.

PLEASE use less epsom salt. Seriously, low and slow. I'll try to find the

article I read that said start at 1 teaspoon or less.

What is happening is entirely expected.
