Guest guest
I just had an aha moment. I go to the buffet once a week with a friend who is one of those who can eat anything and everything and is still thin and healthy. I used to go and tell myself I " should " have a salad. Now granted I love salad, but just putting that " should " label and " diet " label, weight-loss, etc. made me rebel against salad. I am back eating it when I want it and enjoying it. So obvious a light bulb moment too when I thought I can make a chef salad at the buffet. They have on ok salad bar and I could chose lettuce, tomato, cuke, hard boiled egg, cheese, peas and more and also get the sliced turkey from the entree section. That's what I just had with a few different ingredients. And if I want to they have baked sweet potatoes, cooked carrots and other vegetables. And I can have dessert, chocolate of course for me and only eat part of it if I am full and satisfied. At home I get my Chocolate fix with a small serving of pudding, sometimes just a spoonful will do the trick. Just wanted to share my change in thinking away from diet mentality and " should/shouldn't " demands. Sandy Welcome Judy Ann. You are already making a 'jumpstart' just by noticing the Files link at this group's site. Do 'savor' as much input from that resource as you can devour - without over doing of course ;-) And do post any 'ah ha!' moments as well as " What?!? " that strikes you. Such sharing helps to make connections within yourself and can be a gift of insight for another member too. As you read posts here you will soon be finding that for yourself as well. I have known for awhile that I'm an emotional eater... have and going through alot of changes... also under pressure because I haven't been able to find employment; was laid off. But regardless, I can't keep doing this " eating thing.. that I do. " I do exercise, but then end up sabotoging my efforts and I need to lose weight for both my physical and mental health. > > So where's a good place to start as far as your " files and articles..etc...
