Guest guest
this probly isnt what they say to do but i use my thumb alot it doesnt hurt as bad and i squeeze my thumb just a little before i poke it then i squeeze just a little more then i put the test strip up to my thumb and put it where i think i poked it most of the time i get it right away there is a few times i have to search . amy Testing Troubles Hi All, My doctor is finally coming tomorrow and so I will see what he has to say about this whole thing. But I am having a real problem with testing. I have gotten over being afraid of the poke and I know now that it is the tip of the test strip that is the sensitive part. But I have only had success a couple times getting blood to come out. Sometimes those pokes hurt quite a bit and I squeeze my fingers and everything and it won't come out. Or at least I cannot get enough of a sample to make the strip happy. So after a lot of frustration and repeated pokes on different fingers I put just a bit of control solution and it works like a charm. What am I doing wrong and should I think about alternative site testing? I only have one more test strip and two lancets that came with my meter. The guy at Prodigy said they could be old. But why do they work perfectly with control stuff? So I only got one reading myself that was high and two that said it was low without giving me a number which could mean it got too little blood to measure. My brother got the 137 the first day I got the meter. I can't waste the other one until I get new strips so I don't know what to tell the doctor. He will probably just have the technician come to draw blood and test it that way until I really get set up and going. I really need a way I won't goof it up. Guest guest
Thanks, Amy. I will try to do it there and see if it works. My hands get cold a lot too so maybe that is not doing any good. I try to rub them and get them warm before I test. Testing Troubles > > > > Hi All, > My doctor is finally coming tomorrow and so I will see what he has to say > about this whole thing. Guest guest
, sometimes placing your fingers under warm water, them letting them dangle down letting the blood flow downwards before you poke yourself helps. Almost like milking your finger down to the nail helps to. when I use my prodigy, I make sure I place the blood at the very end of strip, working it upwards, this seems to help alot as well,as you really don't need that much. but at times, it can be a bit difficult, if not enough blood is placed, but if not, I think the machine will tell you " not enugh blood " or something. sugar 'Real tears are not those that fall from your eyes and cover your face, but that fall from your heart and cover your soul.' ~Be Blessed, Sugar Testing Troubles Hi All, My doctor is finally coming tomorrow and so I will see what he has to say about this whole thing. Guest guest
Thanks, Sugar. I will feel a lot better when I get the new supply of strips because then if I have to shoot a few of them while I am finding a good foolproof method it won't be so bad. Guest guest
What works for me, , is to make sure the finger or thumb are warm, poke it then held the machine at a downward angle and start below the point I think I stuck myself and drag the strip upward until it tells me " testing " . Most of the time it works, but there are days I have to stick myself several times before I bleed.
