Guest guest
Hi Vicki. Oh darn. I was going to ask if you had any free time in July to help me move. I need someone to help me get the piano upstairs. Yes, it gets hot here in July. In terms of the American experience, our weather is pretty similar to Chicago's, I suppose, because we are on the Great Lakes, too. That means humid weather in the summer. The DM is coming along nicely, but no remission yet. I am down to 4 mg/day of prednisone and 7.5 mg/week of meth. My blood counts are down in the 40s or 50s, and my evil rheumatologist is thinking I've got a pretty good chance of getting off all medications in the future. I still have a ruddy complexion because of the DM, and the skin around my fingernails causes me some minor problems. Other than that, no real problems. But as for running, that is out. I've had 3 MRIs in the last 18 months, and each has shown early asceptic necrosis to my hips. This is, in the DI (diagnostic imaging) people's opinion, a direct result of the initial high doses of prednisone that I needed to stop my initial, very severe flaring. And while the damage han't gotten any worse, I am told that the one sure way to change this would be to take up any activity which involves continuous high impacts to the hip structure. That means running, so I am pretty surely grounded for life. So long as I don't do distance running I shouldn't have anything to worry about. The doctors have suggested I take up cycling. After we get finished with the move, I guess I'll buy a bike. I don't hurt, I work full-time, and my meds are being reduced. I am really lucky, and I know it. The house doesn't take up much of my time. We were able to get our things into good shape before putting our current home up for sale, and that means we can kind of take a break before the actual moving work. I was up at our new place today. They have put all the hardwood flooring and carpeting down, and the bannisters and stair spindles are all finally stained. So really all that needs to be done inside is the quarter-round, the final plumbing work, and a finish coat of paint. The outside is another story. There is still some finish work needed on the front porch, there are stairs needed for the back door, and we have to choose the right kind of seaweed for our moat. Now how about you, Miss Vicki? I have been reading something about a difficult 6 pounds. If you are really having trouble in losing that amount, let me know and I will post some of MY recipes in the new group file. I was glad to read that your horses seem to be on the mend, though. Stay cool.
