Hi,

nne Here, a fellow type 2 Diabetic. My a1c level is typically between

6.1 and 6.3. I am trying to get it under six. I just received the results

of my blood test back. My LDL is fine. My Kidney and Liver are working

fine. I just have a little too many Triglycerides. How are other people

dealing with this problem? Also, does anyone have any ideas for some

healthy bed time snack?

7.0 these days is the highest acceptable for a type 2 diabetic, and i

would sure not want to be on it. I am at Yale and right now they want a 6.5

or under. My CDE likes to see it between 6.0 and 6.5. I remember years ago

when 7.5 and above was acceptable. Mine was 6.5 and I told her she would

see it being lowered for years to come. I dont' think she really believed

me, but the last time we talked I reminded her, and she remembered my

prediction. Now she says they are not worried about lower limits unless you

are

suffering from a lot of lows to get there.

Lindy

It seems that her goal is to increase my A1C to a 6.5 or a 7.0, which

would be quite acceptible to her.

Hello ann.

Do you need a bedtime snack? If your BG is okay at night and you are not

going into a low BG during the night, then you might not need any snack at

all.

But, some healthy snacks are a limited amount of popcorn, nuts or green

stuff.

An A1C between 6.5 and 7.0, must be the new standard with indocrinologists.

When I first saw my indocrinologist a year ago when my A1C was 5.7, my doctor

told me then she would be pleased with an A1C between 6.5 or even up to 7.0. My

latest A1C was 6.7 and I am due to get another one in a month or so.

About 2 ox. Of cheese would be a good snack. It adds protein and some fat

to help keep the BG up without raising it too high as carbs would.

Hi all. I haven't posted much lately but I wanted to contribute to this

thread as well. My first A1C was 8.8. Now after being on 2 diabetic meds,

diamicron, and metformin, my last 2 A1C's have been 6.4. The only thing

they have added is a med called Coversyl which they said will stop protein

leakage from the kidneys. They said there was no damage, but the last med

would prevent damage. Thanks all.

they have added is a med called Coversyl which they said will stop protein

leakage from the kidneys. They said there was no damage, but the last med

would prevent damage. Thanks all.

An A1C between 6.5 and 7.0, must be the new standard with indocrinologists.

When I first saw my indocrinologist a year ago when my A1C was 5.7, my

doctor told me then she would be pleased with an A1C between 6.5 or even up

to 7.0. My latest A1C was 6.7 and I am due to get another one in a month or

so.

A1c

My doctor wants me to say under a 6.1...

currently I am at 5.7, and he prefers me to stay down , not over 6..

I am going to watch through the night and hope he goes Number 1 so I

have to practically force feed him water every half hour or so and hope that

problem gets solved. But the swelling and pain in my right leg is juust

about unbearable and I dread putting shoes on and walking all over Michigan

if we have to take him into the hospital. But then I wonder what if I am

the one that gets taken in; then what of ?
