Jane/MB...if I may butt in....I've chatted w/Bruce a couple of times. He's fine and ready for the drive home. He's anxious to sleep in his own bed and watch his own TV.

Thanks Sher, I had no doubt that he was fine. Just saw him less than a week ago. Jane was expecting to hear from him when he hit the Chattanooga area and I'm wondering if she has.

Oh my goodness Jane, What caused your hair loss. I just pray that never happens to me. My brother shaved his head one time and he had the knottiest head. We all laughed at him. I just have a feeling I would have the same.. however has a nice shaped head. I am thinking about a wig for trips out. I think I would like having one. Anyone else have one?  Peggy, ipf 6/04 Florida  Happy moments, praise God.Difficult moments, seek God.Quiet moments, worship God.Painful moments, trust God.Every moment, thank God. About ten years ago, I decided to get highlights in my hair (with the cap and crochet hook).  The first hairdresser I went to would always put something on it after taking the cap off if it was too blonde.  (I have dark brown hair).  A few years later, that hairdresser got a divorce and moved on.  I changed to another lady, who also had been giving me manicures & pedicures.  She also used the cap & crochet hook,  The first time she gave me highlights, she let it go toooo blonde!  I hated it and didn't get them for a year (didn't need to)  In a year I decided to get her to not DO as much!  I had this lady in my control.  A few years later, my picture was in a dvd that my family was showing at the funeral home during my dad's wake.  It hit me, that with the cap, the top roots of my hair was dark brown and frizzy blonde hair was sticking out all around.  I quit those highlights cold turkey.  I hated those roots!   After my hair fell out 4 years ago and I was bald, I decided that I would always keep my own natural color and never ever do any highlights or coloring because I was just grateful that my hair came back.  Being bald is an experience!  But not one that I chose.  No matter how gray I become, as long as I have hair, I will always be thankful.Toodles!Jane UIP/IPF 12/1998 Dalton, Georgia aka pianolady_musicgirl

Peggy, My mother & grandmother had wigs and only wore them during the winter. As a teenager I had a "Fall" which is just added to the hair I already have. Since you live in Florida, you may not want to invest in a wig that covers the whole head. When we eventually clean out my parents' house, I know those wigs are still there. My hair fell out because of my untreated hypothyroidism at one hospital I was in.

Jane, Thank you ! How are you ? you gave me a lot of helpful info. If you could change something regarding equipment would you or are you OK with the way it all works for you? It was a lot of help what you have provided. Can they pay for 2 systems at once? How does that work? I have a big concern with failure, I know I cannot afford to be without in an emergency, I need a back up plan and am trying to figure one out.

Re: Everyone About Portable Oxygen Please

Mayleen,

I have the Helios Marathon, which is liquid oxygen, which I fill up when I am going anywhere. I also have the Respironics Evergo, POC. I can use it anywhere, too. I just have to remember to plug it in and keep the batteries charged. The batteries in the Evergo can last up to 8 hours on 2LPM but can recharge in 4 hrs. or less. My POC has a demand system(pulse) so it is NOT to be used when sleeping. Neither is the Helios suppose to be used for sleeping. However, the Helios Marthon has a demand setting or a continous setting, of which I am not exactly sure how long the continous setting lasts when filled up. I am going out of town on Thursday morning, and spending the night in Atlanta because my doctor appointment at Emory is on Friday. This is how I will do it: I will take my concentrator I use at home and put it in the car Then I will fill up my Helios Marathon (to the

max) Then I will put my POC in the back seat and drape the cannula up to the driver's seat. I will go to the car with the Helios, and take it off and turn it off when I get in the car. Then I will crank the car. Once the car is running, I can then turn on the POC which is plugged into the backseat lighter, and start using it in the car. Now I will drive to Atlanta to Emory. Once I get there, I will park in the valet parking turn off the Evergo, turn on the Helios, and go to the meeting. After the meeting I will get back in the car with the Helios and drive a few blocks down the street to the place I am staying. When I get out of the car, my daughter will unload everything, the concentrator, the POC, etc. I am on the Helios until we get to our room. Once in the room, I will get out my tubes & cannula and plug it in and start using the concentrator I use in my house. Then I will

probably plug in my POC and recharge it for the next day. I will porbably use the Helios when we eat dinner. At night I will use my CPAP with my concentrator that I use in the house for sleeping. The next day, I will be able to continue to use the Helios until I get to the Emory Clinic for my appointment. Once there, I will use their O2. If the Helios seems empty, or has just a little ( I am not taking an extra reservoir to refill it) I will use the POC. It has been my experience thus far, that the Helios Marathon can last until the next day, maybe not all day, but some of it. As long as I am not running around all over Atlanta. Which I really cannot do. After the appointment is over, then I can go to the car, either with the POC or Helios, get in the car, drive home, using the POC. That is what I do.
