Guest guest
Hi Joan. I am not on oxygen yet. Somedays I wish I was. My pulmonologist bases giving the prescription for Ox on the six minute walk. This is where you walk with a oximeter measuring your ox saturation. My last 6mw was 93. He will give me the prescription for ox when it falls to 88. Also welcome to the support group. There are probably other criteria you will hear from the group. I found a place in the same town where my son lives that rents them by the week (I'm just staying a week). So that works for me...but I have to pay and then can submit on my own to MediCare...is that what most durable medical equipment suppliers do? About later on...at what point is one 'put' on oxygen? Does it have to do with the amount of good lung tissue, the percentage of oxygen in your blood, or what? There are so many things that I know nothing about and will have to research and learn enough to at least ask sensible questions.
