I am reading A Course In Weight Loss by nne on (do not be fooled by

the title, it really is an IE book!). She has an exercise where you buy one new

plate, bowl, glass, knife, fork and spoon as well as a new napkin and place mat

and candlestick holders and candles. And the idea, or at least what I get out of

it, is to redevelop a love affair with food. She has you set up an alter which

you put these pretty new things on until we are ready to incorporate them into

our new relationship with food. What you wrote made me think of this chapter in

her book. I couldn't justify buying just one new of each of these. And all of

my dishes are hand me downs or from garage sales or from when I was married.

I've never, ever choosen my own dishes. So I bought a set of new glasses, and

an entire new set of dishes and utensils. I have them set up on my alter. And

my place setting is so beautiful. And I had such a good time shopping and

picking out my new dishes. And I really do feel this is changing something in

my psyche. I'm not sure I can explain it, but I seem to be more thoughtful in

my eating and in what I choose to eat.
