Guest guest
I was extremely disappointed in this show. Oprah was too busy talking about herself for the majority of the show. I would have liked to have seen Geneen interact with the audience. I love the book!! I hope most of you were able to see this or will be in your time zone or online. It was an amazing show IMO, and I actually ordered the book (Women, Food, and God) right after and I almost never buy new hardback books. I am a library, used books, paperback reader. Guest guest
I didn't watch the entire episode. I did watch some of the clips online. I think that it's important that Oprah shared that she now believes that she publicly " shamed " herself in the Jan '09 issue of O Magazine. I did see Geneen doing alot of nodding in the clip! I have noticed that when Oprah doesn't know a lot about a subject, then a guest has more time to speak. In contrast, Geneen's book represents a subject area that she's been immersed in and talking about for years. Although they are similar, I do prefer the 10 principles of IE to Geneen's 7 eating guidelines. Latoya > > I was extremely disappointed in this show. Guest guest
I agree with you. I'm not even sure why Oprah even had Geneen on the show. She could have done the whole show without her, since she didn't give her much of an opportunity to talk. Oprah did say at the end, though, that on July 12th, Geneen will be back on her show answering questions, so maybe that will be the better show to watch. In spite of that, I have to admit that it really got to me when Oprah read the quote from Geneen's book about using food to flatline, to numb ourselves. That is exactly what I do. That hit me hard! Anyone else feel that way, and if so, have you been able to work through it? PJ > > > I hope most of you were able to see this or will be in your time zone or online. Guest guest
I also agree that Oprah didn't even give Ms. Roth a chance to talk much it would have been more effective if Oprah allowed her to explain the 7 guidelines and what IE is and then read excerpts from the book as well as let that lady who was in the audience who had success with IE tell more of her story. I will however tape the July 12th show and hope it is better. I also would have liked to see Ms Roth give more advice to those two friends who have such a disordered relationship to food and with each other Eva I agree with you. Guest guest
I think most authors on shows don't want to give away but so much of their books. They want to increase sales, which I bet did like crazy after the show. I know I ordered one. Bonnie > > > > > I hope most of you were able to see this or will be in your time zone > or online.
