Thanks.  Yesterday and the day before I got out early and did a lot of yard work and forgot about eating for a while.  Also I can forget when I'm on the computer.  Right now I noticed I am getting hungry and will eat before joining my neighbors for their coffee/donut morning.  I stopped eating donuts a long time ago because they made me feel so awful and the same for pancakes.  I am grateful that they make me feel so awful. Hi Sandy,Some great steps you're making!  I'm retired too.  One of the things that has helped me is  keeping busy so I forget about the clock.  That way, you can go by the hunger rather than the clock.

I'm getting more active.  Last year I had some major health issues but am doing great ow.  It is good to be able to get around, walk, bike, swim and Friday I'm going dancing.  I haven't been able to do any of those for several years. I had a good time trimming the tree too.  I enjoy that.  My friend and I are going to the beach tomorrow to watch the sunrise! I get so excited about being able to walk even that I no longer use the handicap parking spaces but park as far away as I can most places I go.

 

Sandy, keeping yourself occupied with a fun and enjoyable activity helps a lot, plus you're moving and staying active.  That's smart to eat before you get together with your neighbors.  I know what you mean about the doughnuts.  I love them but they don't seem to love me.  Guess all that sugar and fat makes this old body rebel.  One my of drugs of choice back years ago was vanilla cream-filled Dunkin' Doughnuts!  Talk about self abuse!!!  Yuck!

Congrats again Sandy :-) Such discoveries really help you embrace IE for

yourself. I too had a 'clock' issue at first. Mine was mid afternoon which I

eventually associated with having developed from receiving an after school snack

so many years ago. Amazing how such an association can remain! It also remains

an 'important' (desired) thing for me to make a dinner for us (hubby & me) which

can and does vary time wise depending on what we are in the middle of or not

(also retired).

When I do find myself feeling hungry before I am ready to make dinner I often

have a bite of something that I have learned will hold me just until I will have

dinner ready. This can be a fun learning thing too! I got a little clip on timer

so I could check with myself - say hourly - to sense what my hunger level was. I

found out that a small apple, or couple of cookies would hold me at least an

hour. A slice of cheese might be an hour and half etc. It was fun to play with

different foods and find this out for myself.

That's great, Sandy! Sometimes bad things have a way of turning out great in the end, like your health issues. So glad to hear you're feeling and doing better now after your trying time last year. Hope you and your friend have fun tomorrow morning! Take care!Jeanne
