,

Sorry to butt in--thought I would tell what litle I know:

When I was dx--my Dr told me the only way it could be confirmed was with a biopsy. I asked about getting into a study and I was told that I would have to have a biopsy to be considered. I had a VATS biopsy--they made 3 incisions (longest one is about 2") on my right side 4"-under my armpit and it looks like a triangle (I'm gonna tell the grandkids thats where I got shot in the war). I have heard alot of people say they would never do it again, but personally it was a very positive experience for me and was glad I did it. There are others on this board than can tell you about their experiences, but I have had several surgerys (broken arm, leg, thumb, etc) and have always felt OK with surgery. Now my wife---ABSOLUTELY the opposite--every surgery seems like she was luck to survive and hates the idea of surgery.

It would probably be best to see what your DR.suggests as he knows your situation and how comfortable you are about the surgery. They will tell you it is a 3-5 day stay in the hospital--I went home on the 4th day.

Our Bruce, may have better info than I do as he has been around and heard more and does a very good job with his research----Check with the DR first --then see what YOUR Bruce says. Good luck

Hi ,Glad to hear from you again. I hope your appointment with Dr. Glazier at UTSW in Dallas on Tuesday goes well. He wasn't with that group when I was a patient between 1999 & Dec 2002. Hope you like him. I'll be thinking positive thoughts on Tuesday for you.Gwynne, sorry about spelling your name incorrectly - over and over and over.
