Great to have you here Carolyn!  Jump in with all of our postings...I find that it always helps me the most!

Greetings!

First day here.  I have recently read Women Food and God and Why Weight?  A Guide to Ending Compulsive Eating by Geneen Roth.  This is day 3 for me at my attempts to eat intuitively.  Thus far I am very pleased with my success at stopping when the cravings have come ... and they have come!  Especially in the evening or when someone else around me is having something to eat.

The most success with food that I have had over my 57 years on this earth has been when I have cut out flour and sugar, which of course has included processed foods.  I finally knew what it was like to have the 'mind games' cease.  I am hoping that by eating intuitively I will discover that I am not an addict and that I can safely eat foods with flour and sugar and also live at peace and find my healthiest place to be.

I would like to lose 50 lbs, but, from past experience a loss of even 25 lbs would have me fitting more of my clothing and in a better place holistically.  I am a runner and normally would be training for a fall 1/2 marathon, but, I have just completed an 800 km walk across northern Spain and so I am putting the next 1/2 training off until next year.  I have a new road bike and am trying to figure out the gears and begin riding with a group of cyclists.  My upper arms are giving me grief, as in pain, and so I am not sure when I will actually be able to begin the 'learn to swim' component of this triathalon group that I belong to.  I know I need to go see my physiotherapist.  I have been putting it off, because she is going to ask me if I have been doing the last exercises that she gave me and I haven't ... I don't even remember how!

Well, that's me ... 57 years old, 173 lbs, 5'5 " , a wife, a mom of 5 and a grandma of 2.

Blessings everyone on your day!

Carolyn
