Hi Harry and all,

Wayne was one of the most tragic situations I have ever been through.

The real sad thing is that Wayne really did have the information he needed

but he chose to mostly ignore it. The hospital nutritionist sure as the

Dickens did *NOT* do him any favors either.

Watching him just die day by day is something I will never forget.

Lora, Thanks to and patricia on this list serve, I have my left leg

today. I had carbunkles on my left leg. At first just one or two then it

became two or three and then three or four. I reported what my treating

doctor said at the time, and he said it is just those boils that diabetics

get from time to time. I was strongly urged by them to go back to my doctor

and have him prescribe a antibiotic to treat the condition, so I did. So the

doctor prescribed antibiotics for me and I took them. Then the boils did not

go away. I was then urged again to go back to the treating physician and

tell him remember I am a diabetic, and I need some more diabetic treatment

for boils. he reluctantly prescribed antibiotics once again.I told him I

wanted to take antibiotics until all the boils went away, as suggested by

and Pat. He reluctantly prescribed them once again, and I eagerly

took the prescription until the doils were completely gone. You don't know

Wayne Kersteader, but I did not want to wind up like him. An amputation

here, and an amputation there until finally he is dead.

RE: Lora and

He has been tested at a larger hospital. The test results are inconclusive

because his pancreas is too inflamed to see clearly what the problem is.

They want to see him again in about a month. They are putting a feeding tube

into him tomorrow. At this point, he may go either way.

Hi Lora, It is amazing that you spell your name this way. I never knew

anyone that did until I was about 38 years old. There was a ladywho went to

a church that we knew and she spelled it the same way.

My son is testing my husband 3 or 4 times a day right now while he is on the

feeding tube so I have been copping out and letting him test me every few

mornings. Even he has trouble getting enough blood to get an accurate test.

Laral,

Why don't you ask about going to a podiatrist?

I am so sorry to hear about yourfriend Wayne.

I just found this note as I was going through my folder. I got very behind

while going back and forth to the hospital and staying with most of

the nights.I had two courses of antibiotics for this leg and foot because

the hospital gave me some and then Dr. gave me some.

now they are ended. When he came Thursday he looked at it and it did not

look infected to him and he saw pink skin around the heel and just some

calluses. But when it hurts the pain is way up there inside. That is what

I worry about.

He did prescribe more pain medication that is for pain and inflamation but I

have to wait a few days to get it because my insurance will only pay once a

month. So I have been taking a generic brand of Advil in between here just

to get by when it hurts.

I rub cream on that dry skin and that helps some. I definitely do not want

any amputations because how would I ever be any good to if I had to

hobble along or could not walk myself.

No I never heard of Wayne but that sounds like a shame.

I should think of him every time I sneak a piece of chocolate or a cookie.
