Guest guest
Hi all first, I have enjoyed all the post that have been comeing in. The past two weeks, I've been in the hospital with a fever and chills, and very low blood pressure. I checked in with my bp at 40 over 28 yes, that is correct..and I was up and aware, well, sitting and aware..smile. I wwent in with my A1c at 5.5, and kreatnum at 1.1, so all was doing ok. remember I am border line II, with a kidney and pancreas transplant, on metformin(1000 mg a day .... after many antibiotics, strong ones, and cat scans, MRI's and a nuclear scan, something was found on my liver. so after more blood tests, IV's and such, nothing showed up..,thus having the doctor's ask if there was a tumor and cancer, so the testing starts again. after those test, and more antibiotics, a tumor and cancer has been ruled out,PTL! now, I still have something on my liver, which seems to be some growth, or extra liver sticking out(small piece), no one is sure what is that, and they did take fluid ffrom it, and nothing showed. the infection specialist did more test and nothing;thus was causeing the fever and chills. I went up to 104, in the fever, and was pumped with plenty of fluids and more antibiotics... now needless to say I have had so much antibiotics in me, that now my kreatnum is 1.2(not to bad) but my A1c jumped from 5.5 to 6.2,yikes!! sadly it will stay that way, until I work to get it back down..frown the cause of such elevated a1c so quickly is because of the certain and specific antibiotics that was given to me, and I was on insulin (sliding scale)during the stay, but that is routine for individuals on metformin and who are transplant patients. I am home now, recoverying, and will have to have my liver checked periodically for stableness. I was also told that I drink to much water, causing my bp to drop so quickly and that to much water has caused dehydration in my sistem, that was strange, but I have to be consistant with how much I drink to keep my nutrients balance and such. well, I am back to square one, and any suggestions on lowering my a1c would be greatly appreciated. thanks for listening, just sharing my past experience. sugar 'When asked, " what is worse than loseing my eye sight?
