Guest guest
Kerry, When a baby is born in a Jewish family..if it's a boy there is naming ceremony ( giving him his Hebrew name) using the Hebrew names of the persons who are being honored by using their names..those loved ones whose memories are cherished and the baby gets the their names in Hebrew..English names may be similar or have the same first letter. For example..My husband's English name is ..He was named in memory of his great grandfather whose Hebrew name was Moshe..in English . So Mike has the Hebrew name of Moshe ( it translates to Moses) This happens at the time of the circumcision and a party follows.( usually within 8 days of birth.) So in line with the feminist movement of the 70's..... In the past 35+ years Rabbis have developed a simple ceremony giving baby girls their Hebrew name and a party follows. The Rabbi will come to our house have a simple service welcoming Sara into Judaism and then we eat!!!! A great reason to have a party... is back to her self and the baby Sara is wonderful. 4 months on Thursday! My mother-in-law was 's favorite and when she passed 14+ years ago said if she ever had a girl she would use Mom Mom Zion's name. So our Sara is named for Sara Zion whose English and Hebrew names were the same. Our Sara will have the same situation. I hope I said this all clearly, I'm pooped...I babysat for Sara today and boy do I hurt...but I had such a good time. She's now giggling, rolling over and over and scooting on her back in circles sort of like a sun dial! Z fibriotic NSIP/05 Z 64, fibriotic NSIP/o5/PA And “mild” PH/10/07 and Reynaud’s too!! Yay, we love stable! I'm glad you found the source of the pain w/ the rib injury. I bruised my ribs when I was 13, it took forever to heal and then when I thought it was good, I lifted myself up on a ledge to sit and reinjured it. It was difficult as a rough and tough teen, I can't imagine w/ our cough, it's not like you can not cough... ugggh. What is a baby naming party? Kerry 37 IPF '01 S.
