Guest guest
Hi MJ, I was also at that workshop. Like you, I found it really useful and not nearly long enough. I was a bit worried that it wouldn't be worth the money (I flew in from San Francisco and stayed in the hotel, so the costs really added up!), but I think it was worth every penny. I wish I could have Geneen coaching me every day. I plan to write more about it on my blog when I have a few free minutes. For anyone that is interested, Geneen has a six week online retreat that you can purchase on her website (it's podcast or MP3 downloads and worksheets, only, not a CD set). I actually plan on doing this. It's not necessarily cheap at $147, but compared to the $1600 (not including room, board, and travel) it costs to attend one of her in person retreats, it seems like a bargain and I need all the help I can get. Josie > > Hi, > I just got back from Geneen's 1 1/2 day workshop & it was an amazing experience. I wish that it had been a little longer though because there was so much that we didn't have time to cover. What made the most impression on me were these tips: > -insight is not enough, we must take action > -a support community is essential (it's almost impossible to do this on our own, she talked about book clubs, retreats - online & live, facebook group & even though she didn't mention it I'm positive she would be including THIS group in the mix) > -we need to have structure, this way of eating is not a " free for all " , we need to honour the guidelines about eating when hungry ( & that means checking in with ourselves on the hunger scale) & stopping when we are satisfied (again, that means checking in with ourselves) > -it helps to establish a daily practice of being " quiet " & sitting with ourselves. Even if we can just start out with 5 or 10 mins & work our way up from there. > > I have pages of notes & I wish I could have written faster because there was so much I wanted to be able to remind myself of after it was over. I am really grateful that I had the opportunity to attend & I can't wait to go again. > > btw, she just finished another book so I'm excited for that to come out. > > I feel blessed to have this group because it is & has been an ongoing support for me as I make my way on this journey to becoming an IE. > > mj >

Guest guest
Hi Josie, we stayed at the hotel, too. We drove down from Vancouver. I wish I'd known you were there. Have you done a blog on it yet? The girl in front of me was blogging I think as it was going on. And Geneen mentioned that she had read someone's blog. What a great way to spend a weekend. BOY, she is amazing & sure didn't disappoint me. I wish I'd had the courage to mention this group when she was talking about support & the FB group. I'm in both & this one seems so much easier to navigate for me. cheers mj > > > > Hi, > > I just got back from Geneen's 1 1/2 day workshop & it was an amazing experience. Guest guest
I just posted about my experience. I agree that she did not disappoint. I'm SO tempted to do her fall retreat next year. I remember they mentioned that there were only ten spots left. But the price and having to make the commitment so far in advance gives me pause. But the location is only a couple hours drive from me and is right on the ocean. Have never been, but if you like nature, it's supposed to be gorgeous (though I understand the facility is one people either love or hate). And, if I think about all the money I've spent in my lifetime on other diet plans and what have you, it's probably a bargain. But I'm going to have to ponder a bit more. Am definitely going to do the online retreat, though. I remember Geneen saying she had read someone's blog. I wondered which ones she read and how she decided. Wondered if she just randomly googles and reads what looks interesting. So odd to think that she could have seen my blog! LOL I, too, stopped by the FB page and agree that it didn't seem as helpful as our group. Besides, I have a thing about FB. I just have no desire to get involved with it. Seems like more time than I have to give and I have concerns about the lack of privacy. So it's just as well that we're in the right spot!
