Guest guest
Dear SCIA friends,Below is a link to a YouTube video I found today. This is one of the most amazing pieces of information I have found in a very long time and I wanted to share it with you I am hoping you will share this with people that needs it. This video explains how the microglial activation occurs in people that suffer from Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's disease and autism have microglial activation in common and many of the medical symptoms are the same. The difference is when and how the microglial activation occurs. In Alzheimer's disease the microglial activation occurs much later in the individual's life and it is caused by the the peptide amyloid-beta. In autism, the microglial activation occurs during infancy and we believe it is caused by viral or bacterial pathogens. If you look at my post from January 3, 2011 "Important: List of agents that activate or inhibit microglia" Both, amyloid-beta and Bacterial and Viral products are listed as microglial activators. In the video, Dr. ph which is a senior scientist at the L. J. Center for Alzheimer's Research talks about how microglial activation occurs in presence of the peptide amyloid-beta. They talk about how in Alzheimer's disease patients it takes many years for the symptoms to occur and how with their research, pharmaceutical companies are working in a vaccine that will get rid of the peptide amyloid-beta. They don't talk about inhibiting microglial activation which I think it is missing in their research. In this video they say how overtime they believe that the microglial activation is going to kill a lot of brain cells and particularly a lot of processes that connect the brain cells because there is a low grade inflammation. They also mentioned how the the connections between the brain's nerve cells that were so vivid in a healthy brain are gone when beta-amyloid activate the microglial cells sending them into an inflammatory state and how eventually it can lead to damage to the neuro cells.Especially, after the minute 7:15, I found it very impressive how they were able to activate the microglial cells using amyloid-beta in their lab. Just think about this video if it was about autism, but instead of using amyloid-beta to activate the microglial cells, they used viral or bacterial products. This is the science that is at the heart of SCIA, we want to provide evidence that children with autism suffer from infections that are known to cause microglial activation, measure at what extent the immune system is being affected in children with autism due to the infections and microglial activation and we are doing our best to put together a set of tests that will measure factors that are known to be deregulated in presence of microglial activation and hopefully provide microglial activation markers. We need to provide this evidence in the thousands so we can show the data that many researchers, doctors, pharmaceutical companies and our governments have been asking for and nobody up to this point have been able to provide. Those are the lab tests we want doctors to order for children with autism. We will explain why the lab tests are needed, doctors just need to understand what the lab tests are for. And right now they don't.We have been working with a few friends to create a list of medications and supplements that can reduce microglial activation so parents can have it handy. We need doctors to understand that the infections that activated the microglial cells must be treated and the microglial activation must be inhibited. Those are the most important treatments that SCIA believes it will definitely help children with autism better.Alzheimer immunology Part 1 by TheHealthSciencehttp://www.facebook.com/l/388a1rcQo8BJmZJR1cYpNsFkl2g;www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmRpOh4uMzwMicroglial activation in Alzheimer's disease.http://www.facebook.com/l/388a1kpqzcytAzRp7yC655r-MhA;www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19747160"the peptide amyloid-beta has been proposed as the major pathogenic force in the development and progression of AD"Dr. ph Ph.D. Neurology, Sun Health Research InstituteSenior Scientist, L.
