Guest guest
Ok, is anyone else here a total klutz? Is it just me or is it the arthritis? I do stupid things. About two years ago I stepped off a curb and broke my ankle, and badly sprained my wrist and my thumb. About a week ago, I was trying to lean over to push close a window and my foot slipped out of my houseslipper (I guess that's why they are called 'slippers'). I flew forward and there was nothing to break my fall. I slammed my arm against the fireplace tongs and got a nasty bruise on my arm, plus broke one of the venetian blind slats. Then, today I was taking a laundry basket to another room, and somehow the rim got caught on the door handle and the whole thing came flying back at me, jamming my wrist. It's not sore yet, but tomorrow it will be I am sure. Plus, I had surgery on both feet about 4 months ago. There are still pins in them. So, I just have to drop a 100 lb (or more) oak bench on the top of my foot. No fracture they say, but now my big toe is numb and burning like it's on fire. And my foot hurts once again! ARGH!! I only got about 3 months of painfree walking in there. I can't even stand to wear shoes because my toe is burning so badly. Weird. And now, I have to have my eyes redone. I just had cataract surgery and already both new lenses are clouding over. It just seemed to get worse suddenly. My eyes ache, and are red and dry. And my vision is decreasing in the left one very quickly. Sheesh! Ok, so how was your week? *g* Jenna FREE SPIRIT - Starlight Writers Publications THE GUARDIANS OF GLEDE - SWP Editors Choice Award; SWP Stellar Award; WordWeaving Award of Excellance THE GREEN PUMPKIN - CrossroadsPub.com; furt Award Nominee Homepage: www.geocities.com/jennakayfrancis ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Guest guest
Yah...someone else does klutzy stuff. I trip, stumble, bumble all the time. I just told my husband yesterday to wait for me in the parking lot. He takes off and I'm going slow so as not to trip if feeling stiff. He gets to the car and I'm still only 1/2 way there. He's a fast mover, been married 43 years, he says he'd probably notice I wasn't there going down the road. Ha Ha. The other day in the grocery store, picked up this cake in a plastic container, it slipped out of my grip and went sliding down the aisle. Husband pretended not to know me. One time got my foot caught in the bottom shelf of the fridge door and as I left the shelf, catsup, pickles all followed me. Many other incidents-will tell later if anyone interested. jjackiethompson@...
Guest guest
Jackie, Well at least I'm not alone. I just dropped a plate with a steaming hot burrito on it the other day too. Guest guest
June, Was also wondering about your tilting and falling since I do the same. Guest guest
Hi Jenna, I'm away on my holiday, but since my boyfriend is at university for a few hours, I thought I'd try and read some of the groups emails. As for your question about clumsines, I too am a klutz. I always seem to trip over things, fall over, slip, etc. I think I've always been a lil clumsy, but i think the arthritis has made it worse. I have yet to have any real injuries because of it though, and I'm really sorry to hear about yours. My only advice is to make sure when you're wearing shoes, they have good grip. Many a time I've fallen over on my butt at work because my sneakers have no grip. If I was more coordinated I could pretend to iceskate across the floor, but alas I am not...hehe As for slippers, I avoid wearing them altogether because I know I'll slip out of them or get them caught on something..hehe Maybe the answer is sewing up an outfit made of quilt material so that we just bounce of everything...like the Michelin man! I'm sorry to hear about your eyes too..that really sucks...may you find the best surgeon around to rid you of cataracts for all eternity! Guest guest
Hi all, I was wondering what the difference was between RA and Lupus. They sound like there are similarities in some symptoms. Thanks, Kossart /Celine Kossart kozys@...
Guest guest
There are many similarities between RA and Lupus. Both are autoimmune diseases, both are a chronic inflammatory condition that affect the joints, tissues and organs, both are more common in females than men, both have joint pain and fatigue, both have no cure. Doctors don't know the cause of either. There are several types of lupus. When only the skin is involved, the condition is called discoid lupus. When internal organs are involved, the condition is called systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE). Lupus does not cause the erosion and joint disfiguring that RA causes. Hair loss is a feature of lupus. Skin rashes may be present in lupus. The name Lupus is derived from the Latin for " Wolf " because of the pattern of the pink facial rash was thought to resemble a wolf's mask or wolf bite. Lupus is diagnosed by blood tests including the anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) and the DNA binding test. The ANA test is positive for the majority of people with lupus. Since lupus can affect so many different body systems, it is not always so easy to diagnose. Some people with lupus have a negative ANA. A positive ANA doesn't mean you have lupus. It an be positive in other diseases or just from having an infection. Other autoantibody tests are more specific to lupus. However, not all persons with lupus test positive for them. Some examples are: anti-DNA, anti-Sm, anti-RNP, anti-Ro (SSA), and anti-La (SSB). A sed rate is taken in both diseases to indicate the level of inflammation. Lupus and RA produce very similar symptoms, and the blood tests may not be specific in the early stages of the disease. The tests more specific to lupus are the anti-dsDNA antibody test, the anti-Sm antibody test, and a skin biopsy. X-rays to look for bone erosion may point to RA. If there is kidney involvement, it would point to lupus. It is important to get the proper diagnosis so that the disease can be treated properly. Preventing erosion in RA is the goal of the doctors, where in lupus it is to protect the organs. I hope this answers your questions. Guest guest
Hi. I just started last night! but my MD wrote it for 4.5 and that's what I am taking from the start. I have heard about going up slow - don't know the details but since Bahari said 4.5, that's what my MD wrote it for. At 4.5 I am having no problems - just was a little more energetic during the night than I would have liked but slept the whole night. It just wasn't as sound a sleep as I would have liked. But I hear that will pass. Alice --- In low dose naltrexone , " jdgcasac " <JDGLIBRA@m...> wrote: > > I started LDN a 9 days ago with 3mgs. So far I am very pleased! Guest guest
Back almost a year ago I started out with 4.5 mgs and calcium carbonate as a filler. the first day was no difference however on the third day I noticed a slight stiffness and jerkiness to my movements, by the fourth day I saw some pretty major improvements in my bladder and nueropathic pain but still very stiff. On the advice of someone who had been there I changed fillers and changed again until I had found Acidophilus which alleviated the worst of my jerky movements and stiff feeling, still though today I am stiff in my left arm but I am coming to believe that this is due solely to not using it as it is still pretty much dead. Range of motion exercises are needed but are so hard to start doing, after only a minute of these I am less stiff. I changed down to 3.0mgs after a month of 4.5 and have tried the odd time to get on to 4.5mgs again but every time I do my bladder problems reemerge. Being SPMS I am used to a steady decline so I give a few days for my system to adjust to the difference in amounts before I go running around like chicken little. But still I know that anytime I get to 4.5mgs I will have problems. Maybe for me and you or some others 4.5 is not the majic number but only by trying will you know. Yes 4.5 may work better at stopping progression but at what cost? If I am incontinent I figure that to be too great a price to pay for possibly stopping progression. So I will stay at 3.0mgs as I have better control there than my wife does now. I am really worried about her and would love to see her on LDN.but she hasn t got an official diagnoses of fibromialgya (sp?)yet so hence no prescription for her. Guest guest
I too started with 3mg and stayed with 3 for a week with only stiffness in my legs as a side effect, so I jumped to 4.5mg and have been there ever since (102 days) I think it is a case of "you know your body best". If you are not having problems, I would encourage you to step up to the 4.5 dosage. I belive the 3mg is a recomended starting dosage, though I have read that 4.5 is also used as a starting dose. I think in all of this, we still do not have a diffinitive recomendation of how to go about this therapy, hence here we all are sharing our expereinces all the best, XGRAF ----- Original Message ----- From: jdgcasac low dose naltrexone Sent: Saturday, October 09, 2004 12:52 AM Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Wondering I started LDN a 9 days ago with 3mgs. Guest guest
Dear Friends, I am wondering today how I managed to manifest an automobile accident on Thursday. I ran a red light and two cars hit me and totaled my truck. I am fine with only some large bruises and some aches and pains. I spend my time thinking positively, and am an upbeat person. I try to manifest good things in my life and I certainly live by "First do no harm". Yet on Thursday I hurt myself and two others in an automobile accident. I am feeling a lot of guilt for hurting others. They are not hurt seriously, just bumps and bruises like me. For awhile now, everyone around me has been ill or suffering with one thing or another, but I have managed to stay above the fray and be of comfort to my family and friends. So, how and why did I manifest this accident (I don't really believe in accidents). I really do not understand. Can anyone help me with this? Guest guest
First I want so much to thank those of you who responded to my message. I am doing much better now both physically and mentally. I think I finally got the lesson in my automobile collision. I have spent these last many months with friends and family who are going through very difficult times. First my brother who just had a very difficult cancer surgery and now faces another difficult time with possible radiation therapy; then there is my husbands son who is going through chemo; another dear friend is in the end stages of cancer; and another is dealing with cancer that she has just been told is inoperable. My husband has a chronic pain disease and is having memory problems that he is undergoing tests for. He spends most of his time being depressed, in pain and angry. He is also trying to get disability which has been very frustrating for both of us, as he was just denied and an appeal was filed the same day. For these months I have been trying to be there for everyone, but I am only one person. I was not doing a very good job of paying attention to myself. I think that is why I ran that red light. My mind has been going in a million directions at once. Now it is time for me to start taking care of myself and paying attention to where I am when I am there. To stay in NOW. I am eternally grateful to all of you for being part of my wonderful family. I also think that big truck no longer resonated with our lives. We needed a small economical vehicle and now we will find one. I hope you don't mind my using this space to work through this, but I thought just possibly some else might be able to benefit from my mishap. In Lak'ech Ala K'in, Cheryl(translation: In Lak'ech Ala K'in -You Are My Other Self)In Lak'ech Ala K'in - the Living Code of the Heart | Spirit Libraryvisit me at: www.myspace.com/senegaladyMay we learn to benefit the life of Earth with peace, humble in our needs, and generous in our giving.Joanne Sunshower In a message dated 6/9/2008 8:44:46 A.M.
