Guest guest
Sugar, and all, No need to take such a deep sigh, Sugar. Geesh, I felt the vacuum all the way back east in PA! lol Anyway, I think what Dan is saying is that the current thinking about what foods diabetics can eat (and can't eat) is a good bit different than not that many years ago. Perhaps I'm overly cynical, but IMO, diabetes has become a billion-dollar industry anymore. Anybody and everybody wants to jump on the band wagon with new ideas and new foods, including supposed new versions of old treats. Your peanut butter cookies may indeed be okay for some people, but for anyone who wants to know what they're eating and may not be educated enough, they might think they can eat those " sugar free " cookies to their heart's content. For anyone wishing to post recipes on the list, try to include recipes that include carbohydrate information, along with sugar and other ingredient content. Keep in mind, most foods and recipes are not off limits for diabetics. Moderation is the key word, an expression we've stated quite frequently around here. And the more of the healthy foods you eat on a regular basis, like whole grains, fresh fruits and lots of vegetables, as well as modest portions of lean meats, the more latitude you'll have when it comes time to sample that tempting dessert! Dave " ...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. " [ 16:33] Peanut butter cookie (no sugar) There is no table sugar in this but loaded with lots of other sugars and carbs. See if you can spot them. This one might assume is from a previous era when no added table sugar meant it was diabetic. More important, there is no carb info which makes it meaningless for a diabetic to make a judgement on trying it.
