Guest guest
Hi- I first read IE about 6 years ago. I was always trying to lose 5-10 lbs and consistently dieting and gaining weight. I really want to IE, but I have the Nutrition Label ingrained in my brain. I never successfully saw food in a neutral way. I then got pregnant - twice in a row. I ate so well and really listened to my body through out pregnancy and nursing. I weighed less after two babies than before and felt great. As time goes on, I found myself gaining weight and cramming a handful of food in my mouth here and there. I dieted for 3 days recently and was so crabby and mean. Then I remembered that book collecting dust and reread it. I vow never to diet again, but I know that it won't be easy to undo all the brainwashing of the dieting world. I hope this group will help me not judge food and really hear the hunger/full signs. Elena
Guest guest
Welcome Bonnie! I hope you find a lot of support here. If you explore the links and files on the group page you'll find a lot of helpful resources, but I recommend picking up a copy of Intuitive Eating by Evylyn Tribole (sp?). My fav IE blogs are also 'Health for the Whole Self' and 'Nourishing Circle'. Best Wishes! Casey -- Sent from my iPhone Hello everyone, Found your group online so this has been my first few days reading posts. I've lived my whole life super morbidly obese until 2 and a half years ago when I had gastric bypass and last summer I had plastics. I've done very well, but not lost it all. I'm okay with where I am, but the monster inside is alive and well. The further I'm out I'm realizing the number on the scale truly doesn't matter, its the peace in the head. So I'm here, following your discussions, relating to them far more than I thought. Is there a list of guidelines as far as getting started here, or reading posts is the way to go? Thank you. Guest guest
Welcome . You certainly seem to know what to start - your own need to EAT as a coping mechanism. The first thing that pops into my head could be for you to see if you can find and list alternative coping ways that you could give a try to. If you can make this 'fun', almost like a game (?!?), maybe you could discover other coping methods that you can embrace and then release so much focus on just eating? Do keep posting as that not only helps you to bring what you need 'out', it also increases your chances of receiving feedback that really may help you too. Just remember that all input may not 'fit' you, but as shared with love and trust. Best to you, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Hello Everyone, > > I am new here...I actually joined over a year ago but haven't posted in a long time. I have a serious problem. I binge eat like crazy and I am incredibly sensitive. I eat to numb the sensitivity and I don't know how to stop. One things I do know is that dieting and weight obsession are not the answer. I had a problem with anorexia years ago and I never want to experience that hellhole again. I would love to begin intuitive eating. I don't know how to cope with anything without food and it messes up my natural hunger and satiety cues so much. I really, really, really need help. > > >
