Guest guest
Hi, I am new and, having struggled with disordered eating (anorexia/bulimia) for several years, am looking very forward to permanently changing my begative relationship with food. I am new to the IE approach but am exicted/scared to begin, and appreciate any advice/suggestions/shared experiences you all have. Currently, I am struggling with the " eating whatever your body wants " step. I have a deathly fear of gaining weight, and eating whatever I want has always triggered my disordered eating habits. Any tips you have as to how to convince your mind to truly give permission for eating anything is greatly appreciated. Did anyone find that they simply binged on unhealthy foods all the time through this step? Have you actually done as the IE book suggests and bought large amounts of previously forbidden foods to have in the house? This idea frightens me! If so, did you go through the forbidden food list one at a time (i.e. bought boxs of donuts, but no other forbidden foods) until you've gotten past the cravings for them, and then move on to the next? Thanks so much!
