Pulsing the anti-viral?

I was talking to our DAN the other day about using anti-virals and he explained

that there are different schools of thought about anti-viral usage.

He initially suggested pulsing it (5 days on and then take a break and then go

another 5 days). What he said this does is that it doesn't allow for natural

selection to occur inside the body and leave the super-resistant virus to

multiply. He said that by pulsing it, you leave some of the weaker bugs to breed

with the stronger bugs and it weakens the " gene pool " of the virus in the

long-run.

Then, another philosophy I've heard people talk about on here is going months

straight until it's all gone.

Our DAN admits that there is no one be-all-end-all answer to this. That no one

is really certain about viruses.

This discussion has probably gone on before but I wanted to start it again.

What's your take on this? I just want to hear people's different thoughts about

this. What are people's experiences with one way or the other of using an

anti-viral like valtrex?
