Wow! The number of messages from IE members has dropped way off it seems. How is everyone doing? Did you all have a good holiday weekend?  Did anyone have a lot of candy around?  My grandson got some from the Easter Bunny and I had a piece but didn't even feel tempted for more, and it was chocolate. We also had a family birthday party and I did have a piece of cake and some ice cream but I didn't have any need to binge on it. Later on I threw out the leftover ice cream and the cake went to my daughter's place of work.  We went out to eat but I did not over eat, but got a doggie bag to take home.  I do that a lot anyway.  Love to hear from any of you again.  It helps so much . Thanks. Sandy

The owner of this group - Gillian Hood-son - is an IE coach who does

group and individual coaching over the phone. You may want to check out her web

site - Healthier Outcomes - or email her about what she offers/rates etc. -

gillian@.... I and a few other of the members here have

benefited from her services. She has attended workshops with Elyse Resch and

Tribole and also has worked with Dr. May's Am I Hungry? program too.

Ultimately each of us must find our 'own' way and re-connect with our bodies as

works for us. Early on Gillian shared with me a book that her mentor wrote -

Un-dieting. It was a bit heavy for me at my beginning stage, but it did contain

much meaningful information and 'exercises' (not physical) to help one in

discovery and resolving internal issues about eating.

Thanks for all the input.  I am doing a lot better tonight.  It is the way my bipolar shows itself sometimes: down and emotional in the morning and get better during the day.  Often I am best at night but can have trouble getting to sleep. I am blessed to be only mildly bipolar and meds control it pretty well. It does influence my eating though, mood swings and 2 medications.  But I can live with it.  I was in hypnotherapy for several years with a great counselor. I moved away but could still go if I want.  He does not know about IE though.  I could educate him!  Sandy

If you find someone a little more reasonable, you could also ask if they offer sliding scale fees. It never hurts to ask. I asked and I'm getting half off a consultation.Someone mentioned going to the IE authors' website and looking for referrals to IE approved counselors... helps if you are okay with phone consults. Also Gillian, our group founder, is great.

I'm in Portland and that was for eitehr one or 2 sessions a week.  I don't exactly remember now.  I read it and thought oh hells No and closed the website.  :)

Related to katcha's suggestion... meetup.com is an awesome way to find groups related to any and all interests. I haven't tried it for ie but had good luck for other interests.

Abby

> I have worked with a couple of life coaches, one in particular was an IE Coach. This was about 4 years ago and I did pay around $300/ month and that was for 1 1hr session per week by telephone. If you were to go to an actualy licensed psychotherapist one would pay about $100 per hour. So, 4yrs later, $450 really does not sound that unreasonable to me. I do know that fees can be higher on each of the coasts. I would ask wether it includes any contacts via email inbetween sessions. I think the questions should be of course to look at your budget and find out if it is something you can afford. You might need to give up something else for a while. And the next question I would ask yourself is whether you feel you are worth it? Both of my coaching experiences were life changing and I am so glad that I felt I was worth it to give this gift to myself.
