My son did valtrex last yr at age 13..........about 30 days into the treatment he developed several rashes........red rash all around his mouth. .....cold sores on each corner of his mouth........at least 3 cold sores in his mouth mostly under the bottom lip.........on each inner thigh and butocks chicken pox looking rash........6 symetrical stripes acoss his stomach (3 on each side) which appeared to be an eczema looking rash which I thought was yeast. We used both valtrex and a high dose of diflucan (200 mgs diflucan and my son weighed 150 pounds). WE also used valtrex 500mgs of valtrex 3 times per day. We had to quit at day 80 because my son was so miserable and became aggressive that we could not go on. We were also using Imunovir to boost his immune system. We have come to find out now that my son has a severe case of PANDAS so I do not

think the valtrex protocol was bad for him I just think he got exposed to more strep and it was all too much for him at that time

We have just completed our first month of Valtrex and we now have a rash. The rash presents on both inner elbows. It does not itch, burn or bother my son in any way. The rash info on Stan's website looks and describes differently. However, I know that all of our kiddos are unique with their own set of symptoms. For those of you who have tried Valtrex and did experience a healing rash could you please give me some insight on what you saw as well as a brief description. My "gut feeling" says this is a healing rash but I do have a small concern that it could be a yeast and/or strep rash. We are treating yeast aggressively so I am more worried about strep. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dayna
