Note concerning new members

Years ago, some of you will remember, we were having a bit of trouble with spam

messages on the list. I took over the moderating duties, and switched things so

anyone wanting to join had to be approved. I've recently approved 4 new members,

without adhering to the routine I set up, which required each person wanting to

join to send back a brief response.

If we remain spam free, I'll continue to approve people without the extra step.

If someone new ends up sending spam messages, well, that person will be gone

faster than you can say blind diabetics, and I might have to resort to the more

restrictive approval routine
