Good news about the swelling decreasing. Let's hope the second antibiotic

will do the trick. Did they do a CAT scan or MRI on your foot?

I finally finished the first course of antibiotics and am starting the other

ones now. I think these are called something like Kestrol. I will get the

correct spelling from someone later and send it. They are smaller pills and

are 4 times a day instead of two like most I have had and the ones for twice

a day are those big horse pills.

My foot is not feeling much better and I am getting very scared. There is a

bulging spot inside my right ankle besides the bottom of my right heel is

where the infection was. The swelling on the tops of my feet has gone down

quite a bit. I just wear my soft slippers to the hospital because I know

shoes would hurt me.

TPN was done to me a couple of years ago when I could not eat. I called it

my turkey, peas and noodles. Did they say how his kidneys are doing?

Bless you for all you are going through now.

OK, I did not mean to send that yet because I was still writing but our cat

jumped up onto our bed and startled me. My wireless keyboard fell

to the floor and I was saying a couple of choice words to and the

message sent.

As I was starting to say, they are feeding what is called TPN (Total

Parental Nutrition) through the IV and it is going into his veins and

bypassing his digestive system. These feedings are custom made each day

based on a lab analysis of his blood. So they make up this concoction and

put whatever he is deficient on such as potasium or magnesium or whatever.

Thursday or Friday he will have a feeding tube installed and that will go to

the digestive process and you use a commercially prepared solution to feed

him. Shortly after they nake sure he is OK with that then he will be

released from the hospital and come home.

His sugars are looking like anywhere from 130 to 160 and then they give him

2 or 4 units of insulin and he is always being fed the TPN. They say it can

make him go a little high.

They do not seem overly concerned and probably plan to stop when the TPN

stops. He is also retaining a lot of fluid. They also seem to think this

will also stop when the TPN stops.

I have something similar below my ankle bone. It's kind of a hard mass, but not

very pronounced. I've got a few places on my leg that my wife say are pinkish,

but the coloration has decreased in the last day or so since I stopped using the

steroid cream. Let me know about that antibiotic.
