Guest guest
Hi all, I am glad you mentioned this. Two weeks ago when I had my exam with the SS doctor, she was talking about how purple my fingers were and mentioned that Chiari also affects the parasympathetic nervous system and can cause circulation shut down. She then said your nose runs a lot doesn't it? I said yes because it runs most of the time. I forgot to ask what this meant, but assume that it also must have something to do with the parasyspathetic system since we were talking about that. I am a nurse but can not remember anything about this. Anyone have any ideas? in SC
Guest guest
Jack, The only time a get a runny nose, is if I get a cold and then with the cold fever, headaches etc...come along.... Irene Runny Nose I've not seen any posts complaining about a constantly runny nose, but here's mine. It's been three years now and it never stops. I've tried every over-the-counter medicine there is. I've been tested for 21 different causes and have no allergies. I have no pets. I know it's minor in the great scheme of what you folks are dealing with, but if anyone has had this experience and treated it successfully, I'd like to hear from them. I can't make the connection between my nose and my lungs. Thanks. Jack 79/UIP-IPF 06/05 Looking for the perfect gift? Give the gift of Flickr! Guest guest
Jack, I asked the Pulmonologist that question one day. It seems that people with lung disease also have runny noses. At least it was true with my mother and with me. With all his education and expertise....his answer was....I don't know. Guest guest
Vicky, I only share disgusting information like this with my closest friends in a most private manner. I have bloody nose a lot due to high 02 flow and taking Coumadin. I also have intermittant runny nose. If I keep taking my prongs out of my nose to blow and clean blood, the 02 numbers begin to plummet. So, in order to keep the 02 blowing in.....I wrap a tissue around the cannula under my nose and let 'er drip. When it gets yucky, I change it. Now, I only do this in the privacy of my home. Yesturday while I was out in public, I got blood on my shirt and pants, trying to wipe in a delicate, ladylike way. I got into the car from the store to come home and it looked like I had been in a knife fight without a knife! Good grief. So, all you runny nose people. Just stop blowing and wiping and just rig up something to catch it. It is a very attractive look. Guest guest
Thank you, Irene, but I can't remember the last time I had a cold. I rarely get them. Nor the flue. In fact, the fibrosis is jsut about the only sickness I've ever had. There are those that would immediately point to my head as a source illnesses, but they are just jealous. Besides, if you have an empty head, how can you have an illness in the head? My only head aches are external. Guest guest
Jack...I get the colds a lot of times and if I'm not careful they lead to bronchitis or broncho-pneumonia. In October/07, I ended up taking antibiotics for a month. Even if I get the slightest cold I have to use my Asthma Inhalers. thanks for the little laugh! In January/08, at work, one of my co-workers was wearing a very strong perfume, which I didn't know, but I needed to ask her something, so I walk up to her, started talking to her and everything around me was spinning and I was choking because I couldn't breathe at all and started coughing tremendously... About 10minutes later...I call the nurses hotline...explained what was happenning...she says to me "we need to send an ambulance over and take you to the hospital". I reply...no you can't I'm at work. The lady thought I was nuts...here I am can't breathe, I'm about to fall on the floor etc... I finally told her please send the ambulance over, I was taken to ER, were I was admited on the floor for a night, with 3 litres of oxygen. In ER, I was given a few oxygen masks and blood tests. In the ambulance, they had me on on oxygen, paramedic was trying to keep me awake, was on the heart monitor and my heart was skipping beats. I was cleared for any blood clots in the lungs. Guest guest
I have small amount of trouble with runny nose also, just from my 6L of O2. The water bottle on the tanks helped that problem a lot.. I would be very nervous about bleeding while on Coumadin. I take 8 mgs a day of Coumadin and am supposed to call drs. asap if there is any sign of continued bleeding, from any part of my anatomy. I did cut my hand last year, accidentally, while fixing breakfast...it was scarey seeing so much blood that just pumped out of the cut. I got to ER, partially stitched up, then a week later had to have surgery due to MRSA infection in the incision. I am so much more careful now with knives and signs and symptoms of bleeding:) In Breathe-Support , " Joyce " wrote: > > > Vicky, > > I only share disgusting information like this with my closest friends in > a most private manner.
