Guest guest
I'm only doing the B12 drops right now and at first, my dd responded but then it " peaked out " and no more significant improvement. I recently added DMG in November and it did wonders for focus, receptive language and sociability. BUT, I had to increase folic acid A LOT. I was only giving 400 mcg of folinic acid and I found out through other people that wasn't enough. I'm still doing the B12 drops and about 100 mg of DMG but I've had to increase the folic acid to about 2200 mcg to see the B12 and DMG work. I'm just starting to get *some* prompted verbal imitation now. My dd had zero verbal imitation skills before. I got some random words with B12 but nowhere near verbal imitation (much less prompted verbal imitation). I've been trying to push language some more with carnosine, DMG, and B12. Admittedly, I think it has increased yeast. I'm seeing some vocal stimming coming back and I think I'll have to increase the yeast protocol. I'm going to increase the carnosine as per the Dr. Chez protocol -- right now, I'm only giving 400 mg of carnosine once a day with 5 mg of zinc and I just found out that I'm way under-dosed again. I'm adding in Vit E and I'm planning on increasing it to twice a day to see if I can get more language out. I've had to use them all to get even a little bit of verbal imitation, but at least it's somewhat there now -- it was completely not there before. My daughter is on mb12 shot every third night and I haven't seen a difference either way, tonight she got shot # 26 s I think I have gIving it some time. My question is does DMG & TMG do the same thing? I have a hard time understand all this biomedical stuff but it looks like they do..so maybe if one doesn't work the other one will Thanks,
Guest guest
Thanks for the reply, I am giving her folic acid as well with dinner supplements. We are using a product called 5-MTHF by Thorne Research and she was to get 1/2 cap which is 500 mcg a night but I for some reason I didn't read it right and have been giving a full cap. So she is getting 1000 mcg and I believe that the shots has folic acid compounded into them as well. We tried the b12 drops and also saw nothing so moved to the shots. I'm just looking for a way to get her talking, she is 30 months old and can only say momma and dadda. She does babble and sometimes it sounds like she is trying to say different words and something is holding her back from getting them out clear. I go see my dan in Feb and thought I might ask to try either DMG or TMG. Guest guest
lol....Alberta, too too funny! That is great news! To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Fri, January 21, 2011 1:05:20 AMSubject: Re: DMG & TMG That's amazing, Toni. Isn't it fantastic when we see improvements like this? I haven't told her teachers so I can have objective reports about how she's doing when I introduce new things -- it's not just me who sees it, when I introduce certain things that agree with Maia, her teachers definitely see it too.I'm seeing a never-before level of verbal imitation today and very heightened pretend play skills, using several different toys and Maia getting to the eye level of her doll. Her ABA therapist raved on and on to me about Maia today. She thinks Maia is just on the brink of becoming verbal and we just need to "shape" things now. I love days like this. We had the mother of all dietary infractions today, though...she snuck and ate some of her dad's leftover pizza, too. She really duped me to get to these -- she actually planned a ruse where she got me distracted and then used the opportunity to go in the fridge and get the leftover pizza (she's been eyeing it since it came into the house when daddy ordered it). Alberta,Thanks for this. Today in karate my son did amazing. I know it could be wishful thinking... but I really do think I saw an improvement already, making sure I gave the zinc with the carnosine. It probably varies for different kids. I'm just starting to shed the notion that supplement dosage is based on weight -- I'm beginning to see that it's based on level of certain deficiencies. My daughter's non-verbal (although I'm hoping that this positive change will continue and she will become verbal soon) and has indications of motor planning issues around speech and probably needs way more carnosine than NT adults who are able to speak. Thank you for typing out this reccommendation! We've been doing 500 mg Carnosine once a day. I'm about to re-do their vit schedule and will make sure I put it twice a day with zinc , have you tried Carnosine? It's quite effective at verbal imitation and it's one supplement that can help in the context of autism if verbal apraxia may be an issue. I've been supplementing carnosine for a while but, at first, it didn't do much because I wasn't giving nearly enough as it was outlined in the Chez study. I was only giving 200 mg/day and I gave it without zinc because our DAN didn't mention zinc. After a discussion with Dana, I found out I had to give zinc with it b/c carnosine is known to deplete zinc so I added some. And then, recently, I found out the Chez dosing guidelines that's known to be effective for speech are 400 mg with 5 mg zinc and 50 ui Vit E -- TWICE a day! I just increased the carnosine to that amount since the past weekend and we're seeing some good prompted verbal imitation approximations this week. A whole new set of sounds are coming out now, with seemingly intentional making of these sounds and not just random word approximations. The teachers and ABA therapists, who don't know I've just increased Maia's carnosine dosage, are "wowed" about the new verbal imitation the past few days and being able to prompt certain words consistently out of her now. We were having a lot of trouble with verbal imitation before -- it was her only ABA program that she had made zero progress in since we started ABA in July.200 mg/day of carnosine helped with receptive language but 400 mg twice a day is definitely making a difference with expressive language here. I haven't changed anything else. I just got our Vit E in today and I just started adding that today -- I'll see if that makes a difference. Guest guest
Thanks I had seen that before and it was months ago before I really understood what I was reading. But the re-introduction of carnosine may in fact explain why I am having to give my son magnesium and taurine like they are candy. SMH! I thought this might be interesting to some.
