Guest guest
Lavanda, You said something about having some difficulty reaching some of the keys, if I understood you correctly. You might want to get a laptop or netbook computer, since they have smaller keyboards. I would suggest asking the state to send someone out to help you learn the keyboard, and I would also suggest, as I think did, to have patience! Try opening a word processor program, or even notepad, and start typing away. You can't harm anything, but you can practice typing, with direct feedback. Glad you felt you could discuss your difficulties. Dave " ...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. " [ 16:33] maybe OT BUT ... How many of us are blind here? Welcome LaVanda, I have been totally blind for over 34 years due to the diabetes. I learned braille then and relearned to type on a regular keyboard. When computers came around, I learned the computer keyboard and now do most of my record keeping, emailing (of course), writing of letters and storage of recipes etc. on the computer. I use braille mostly for labeling things such s spices and medications. I never was a very fast braille reader, so never read books that way. Guest guest
I had a situation like that the other day. I keep my iBill money identifier in my purse and dropped the little bubble wrapper they shipped it back to me in on the floor. So I didn't want to take the time to look for it right away so I wrapped it in a couple paper towels. I also put it inside a money envelope quickly and put it back in the hiding place I have for the money. Well, asked me to throw out some paper towels that I had stuffed in the side of my reclining chair. The next morning I was rummaging around in my purse getting my pills and noticed the money thing was not there. Forgetting I put it in the envelope I started panic attack major and worried I threw it out with the paper towels. I looked in the kitchen garbage can and went back and forth. Finally I remembered sticking it inside the envelope. I got the bubble wrap off the floor and put it back inside my purse with that wrapper on it. I want to make sure nothing goes inside of that opening where you slide the money into the unit. I had to send the unit back to the company and they replaced it but at first they said probably something was stuck in there and tried to charge me 20 bucks. Then they tore up my check and honored the warranty, whoo-hoo! So now I will make sure to keep that opening protected even though I knew nothing got sutck in it. But it was an awful panicky feeling for a few minutes when I forgot where I put that unit to think I could have thrown it out. So we really have to keep track of where we put things. I do not always do that well. I am always looking for certain casseroles or pans or funnels or whatever in the kitchen. It is frustrating. I even did that with my bottle of test strips the other week. And I have been blind since birth. Guest guest
Hi Jen, I wish I could type that fast or at least that accurately.
