Guest guest
Fourteenth Street Deep muffled gutteral of the Interborough somewhere abruptly reminds us the world is more than you and I walking home in the cool and quiet near-dawn of the city shatters the encompassing bubble of our splendid lovliness. Leisurely then, savoring the antiseptic smell of the tide, we walk as one. We cross, regarding the thinning stars more than the traffic, touching always at some point like magnetized dolls in a dance. I think to you and you smile in reply, the telepathic wires shuttling melody between us. Surging exultation like laughing children riding the carousel. We need no words, we are complete. Serene as the ultimate heaven of the Hindu. Your hand closes upon mine as we take the stairway. The evening has been very wonderful. We are sleepy and tired, good night... and your arms around me, your lips as the meat of sweet plums. -Walter Benton from: Never a Greater Need
