My son did horrible on corn and also if his bacteria is up he is very

aggressive, emotional and angry.

> I really need some help, here. Since Friday, my almost-5 year-old has been

having such a difficult time. He's been head-banging, smacking himself in the

face HARD, pinching, scratching, biting, crying, posturing, etc... He also had

red cheeks and ears and allergic shiners. No one's gotten much sleep since

Thursday night. It seems clear that he's in abdominal distress, but we can't

figure out the cause. It also seems to scream " diet infraction!!! " , but I know

his diet is clean. I've upped his yeast protocol, but nothing has improved.

Could he have developed an intolerance for something new? I'm taking out rice,

too, but am still seeing no change. Maybe it's corn... ?

I thought the same - 'infraction' -- however, that being said, it sound like an

allergy. This is exactly how my son was before we removed milk. New allergy?

Corn makes Rob itch like crazy. It made him nuts. Scratching relentlessly..my

daughter too. She got rashes (bad ones, I mean, REALLY BAD ones.)

That being said, as a sort of - test - to see if the antidote to 'corn' allergy

really is: EFA's, Magnesium and Potassium, Histidine, black walnut, kelp and

bee pollen. I added Bee Pollen and more EFA's to Maddie's diet, this took care

of the bad rashes. (This is according to my book, The ultimate healing system

by LePore, ND.)

According to this book - the rice allergy antidote is: Pyrdoxine (B6), B12,

Manganese, Arginine, Proline, Yucca and Beet Powder.

Is there something he likes to eat a lot of (or eats a lot of?)

You might want to add more B-Vitamins anyway (because they are anti-stress, and

it sounds like he is completely stressed) -- and I would also add L-Theanine.

It works really well for me (when I am stressed out.) They also make it in a

gum...thought I would throw that out there...

some suggestions.

Oh, and if it's ammonia, I believe Chlorophyll can render it neutral, and

L-Arginine (and ornithine) assist the body in neutralizing it as well.

and now that I am thinking about it...it sound like, he's got PST deficiency.

....let me go look, and I will post it..

laura :)

Here are the symptoms of PST Def - Phenols/Salicyates

http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/p/phenol_sulfotransferase_deficiency/symptoms.htm#\

It sounds like what you describe...hmmm...

Nice article that explains it well...as we have this problem in our house!

So I think epsom salt bath will work, and some digestive enzymes.

Can you tell me more about ammonia? Thank-you.

In my house, those behaviors would have me looking at either ammonia or bacteria.

Thank-you so much for your reply. He does seem to fit several symptoms of PANDAS, but not the OCD part, which I think is the biggest component, right? This is definitely worth looking into, and I'll be doing so.

Could very well be PANDAS. Self injury and rages is a symptom of PANDAS. Go to this website to learn more www.pandasnetwork.org Strep is prevalent this time of year.

Good grief, this is him to a "T"!We just recently switched him from rice milk to almond milk, and upped his Enhansa - doh! These are easy fixes. Hopefully, things will improve after we remove them.I'll increase the frequency of epsom salt baths. He already takes Trienza digestive enzymes.Thank-you SO much for this info - I had never even heard of PST deficiency before. My husband is emailing our DAN about this as I'm writing you.

There are a few more things that you might want to consider removing too until

the behaviors stop.

Look into Feingold Elimination.

Tomatoes, Cucumbers

All berries , except blueberries

Peaches, Plums, Apples, Almonds, grapes, raisins..and there are some others.

We have followed it, and we just tried grapes about a month 1/2 ago, and it was

still a problem...

ugh. Feel for you!! :) laura

I'll look into Feingold - thank-you.'s diet is so very limited already. He's in feeding therapy to try to expand his menu. He actually hardly eat any of the foods you mentioned, except he does drink apple juice and almond milk. I'll switch those to pear juice and hemp milk, though. I'll also be sure to exclude berries and peaches from his smoothies and pancakes from now on.Thanks, again!

, how is his feeding program going? Was it difficult to move toGfcf or whichever diet you're on when your son was already a picky eater?

I understand. Jimmy likes to eat, but I constantly have to say, 'that hurts

We do gf/cf/sf (some soy lethicin), and mostly corn free (except organic

tortilla chips), Feingold, (TRY) to do low ox, and IGg panel free...yeah, we

know limited!

Do you juice at all?

Hi,It's really slow-going. We've finally got him accepting different kinds of meat and bread, but he still wont touch any fruits or veggies (except for the rare banana), noodles, eggs... the list goes on.It actually was not hard to go gfcfsf with him. We just went from regular oatmeal, pancakes, hamburgers, etc... to rice cereal, and gfcf versions of what he would eat. :-)

As mentioned, you want to try to do low oxalate. If you have phenol sensitivity, this can be helped by doing a low oxalate + Feingold diet. Oxalate somehow messes with PST enzyme/transporters so if you reduce the oxalate, it is another way of helping with the phenols.

Hemp milk is also high oxalate. Milk subs are hard to find on the LOD but do what you can, almost anything is better than almond. Sigh (I love almond milk, I mean the flavor, but we don't ever use it now!)

We don't juice, but maybe we should look into it?   doesn't eat any fruits or veggies except for the few things I can hide in his meat, or what I put in his smoothies.

what about rice milk (aside from the yeast-feeding issue)?

Is Coconut Milk ok?

As mentioned, you want to try to do low oxalate. If you have phenol sensitivity, this can be helped by doing a low oxalate + Feingold diet. Oxalate somehow messes with PST enzyme/transporters so if you reduce the oxalate, it is another way of helping with the phenols.Hemp milk is also high oxalate.

I understand. Jimmy likes to eat, but I constantly have to say, 'that hurts your belly, can't have that.' We do gf/cf/sf (some soy lethicin), and mostly corn free (except organic tortilla chips), Feingold, (TRY) to do low ox, and IGg panel free...yeah, we know limited! Do you juice at all?laura :)> > > > >> > > > > I really need some help, here. Since Friday, my almost-5 year-old has been having such a difficult time. He's been head-banging, smacking himself in the face HARD, pinching, scratching, biting, crying, posturing, etc... He also had red cheeks and ears and allergic shiners. No one's gotten much sleep since Thursday night. It seems clear that he's in abdominal distress, but we can't figure out the cause. It also seems to scream "diet infraction!!!", but I know his diet is clean. I've upped his yeast protocol, but nothing has improved. Could he have developed an intolerance for something new? I'm taking out rice, too, but am still seeing no change. Maybe it's corn... ?> > > > > > > > > > Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can do to help him?> > > > > > > > > > Thanks.> > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > >> > >> > > >>

I really need some help, here. Since Friday, my almost-5 year-old has been having such a difficult time. I thought the same - 'infraction' -- however, that being said, it sound like an allergy. This is exactly how my son was before we removed milk. New allergy? Corn makes Rob itch like crazy. It made him nuts. Scratching relentlessly..my daughter too. She got rashes (bad ones, I mean, REALLY BAD ones.) That being said, as a sort of - test - to see if the antidote to 'corn' allergy really is: EFA's, Magnesium and Potassium, Histidine, black walnut, kelp and bee pollen. I added Bee Pollen and more EFA's to Maddie's diet, this took care of the bad rashes. (This is according to my book, The ultimate healing system by LePore, ND.)According to this book - the rice allergy antidote is: Pyrdoxine (B6), B12, Manganese, Arginine, Proline, Yucca and Beet Powder. Is there something he likes to eat a lot of (or eats a lot of?)You might want to add more B-Vitamins anyway (because they are anti-stress, and it sounds like he is completely stressed) -- and I would also add L-Theanine. It works really well for me (when I am stressed out.) They also make it in a gum...thought I would throw that out there... some suggestions. Oh, and if it's ammonia, I believe Chlorophyll can render it neutral, and L-Arginine (and ornithine) assist the body in neutralizing it as well. and now that I am thinking about it...it sound like, he's got PST deficiency. ...let me go look, and I will post it..laura :)>> I really need some help, here. Thanks so much for your input! His classroom aide had a sub on Thursday and Friday. I wonder if he took someone else's snack, and the sub didn't think it was a big deal.I don't rotate, since he is so limited with he eats - it would be impossible, I think! The only new supplement we began was Trienza, replacing Zyme Prime and AFP Peptizide.I'm wondering if this all started with an infraction, and I made it worse by increasing his enhansa and switching to almond milk. He's doing better today (so far). Not self-injurious at all, but still trying to pinch and bite others (and me!) a lot.
