I'm sorry you felt my tone was offensive, I wasn't trying to be. Try to look at it from my perspective, though. *Because* I didn't know the details, would you have had me not say those things to someone else? What if you were someone that *hadn't* gone to the doctor and was simply waiting for other parents to tell you what to do after not going to see someone for so long? You got a response from me that I felt was appropriate for the information you gave, even if it may have been unintentionally abrasive. If I had known, I would've known that you took him to the doctor twice already and would never have mentioned it. I would have simply said I don't know what to tell you and hoped that someone else did.I wasn't trying to be mean and I apologize if it sounded that way, it wasn't intentional. I only thought the situation was fairly urgent that you take him to a doctor because it sounded to me like you hadn't taken him. I'm not a mind reader.

Thanks You and ,

, yes my son did have HepB at birth, I have never heard of it causing ear problems but it makes a great deal of sense with so many kids having extreme ear infections since its introduction. , it was your post where Cheryl responded that alerted me that some kids have problems with ear pain with Valtrex.

Cheryl, I thank you for responding but was taken aback at the tone and response. You and I have had many private exchanges which were positive, but this was something different. As you stated you dont know all the details, my child has been to doctor and found no ear infections on two occasions in the last 2 weeks, and I was asked to stop the Valtrex to see if the screaming subsided which it did. As I said I took him to the the doctor again yesterday. I now know from you and to never stop ( but that is confusing as I had read several times over the 4 years on this board varying info) but i was following a doctors request. Your assumption that I was assuming die-off was incorrect and I also never even suspected Valtrex as a culprit UNTIL I read your response to W. I have done many protocols and decided to come back and give Valtrex a retry after no results just regression. I was not writing something off it if that was the case I would have never retried it. I was asking parents how to deal with it or their experience on how to ride it out. Selena

> > Hi my son has been on Valtrex, since October for the second time. (the first time was in 06 for a short time) We have noticed in the last two weeks complaints of ear pain but this week has been the worst. We have a doctor's apptmt tomorrow, but he started screaming on Thursday night uncontrollably. I gave motrin and ear drops, he calmed and 3 hrs later the same thing. So I thought maybe ear infection and cold, but the next day he said his ears were fine, but would not let me touch them. I called the doctor and he said watch and call back in the morning, Saturday. So I stopped Valtrex this weekend ( fr. and Sat), since his breathing was labored as well, just to give him a break from detox. Over the last 3 months, we have seen, back rashes, bleeding lips and split lips. We had a change from Valtrex to Valacyclovir as well.

> > He seemed better this weekend so I restarted, Valtrex today and give his normal doses and lo and behold at 1230, he comes out screaming and holding his ears saying he cant take it anymore. What should I do? Is he not a candidate for Valtrex? Cheryl L, or anyone?
