My first thought is that his stomach must be hurting. Is he constipated, or giving trouble passing stools? Does this only happen when he is pooping, or does it happen at other times. Does this only happen when he is pooping, or does it happen at other times. The reason I’m asking is that my son used to lie on the floor and scissor his legs. I couldn’t figure out what was causing it. At our first meeting with a nutritionist, she asked me if he ever did that, or laid across the arm or back of the sofa. She said that it was probably because his stomach hurt, and laying on his stomach put pressure there. And, by moving his legs, he was moving the amount of pressure around his stomach. We did an IGg, and removed everything he reacted to. He has not done with scissor leg thing in over a year. I've read about this before. I have a 3 year old sister in law (yes, you read that right!). with ASD symptoms and she will not sit to poop, either. She brings her mom a diaper then she'll stand someplace quiet to go. She pees on the toilet no problem. I believe its called "posturing" and it's a very good indication of GI issues. (If there's inflammation, it might hurt to sit and strain). It can also be difficult for kids to poop if their feet can't touch the floor. Try putting a stool under his feet so he feels steady and stable. hth-TammySent: Wed, February 9, 2011 11:21:18 AMSubject: doesn't sit for poop .. wants to be on this stomach

my son has this problem as well. He only poops on the toilet if we let him perch on it. Like stand on the seat and then squat down. He's not a real bad gi kid other than chronic constipation. when we keep up with the fiber and he's going regularly after a while he will start to sit, but if we let up then he starts to perch again.. I think it's due to constipation and the strain it puts on there lower stomach and bowels.

just a thought....

I have a friend in MA, and her daughter (she's a twin) had awful constipation

issues. She too lived on miralax. Her brother hasn't been diagnosed, but looks

like he might get an adhd dx. I had suggested a few things:

Take milk, cheese, any and all dairy out of the diet. If you want calcium,

juice dark green veggies. It's better calcium anyway. (Kale and apple (or

pear) is great for juicing!)

Add a magnesium supplement as well as epsom salt baths. Mag is great for

getting BM's (We use Naturally Calm (lemon-raspberry one))

Oxypowder is -- WONDERFUL. We love Oxypowder.

and Syntol with Culturelle to repopulate the gut with good stuff.

I am pleased to report, we have happier, calmer kids, pooping children, and less

ADHD symptoms. I hope this helps! :) laura

Oh , I have tried and tried to talk to them. They don't want to listen. They have an older daughter who had some delays when she was younger and caught right up and is doing fine. But the little one is different. Her symptoms are more severe. I think they're hoping she'll grow out of it, too. I hope they're right...but I just don't know.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make 'em drink, ya know?

It's so frustrating. She's a great little girl. So I just pray : )

My son used to do exactly the same thing. He would pee in the toilet, but would get a pull up and put it on and then stand in a corner in his bedroom to poop. He was badly constipated with little black goat poops. We have fixed this and he now has mostly normal looking poops and sits on the toilet with no problem. It was a long road to where we are now.You absolutely need to get rid of the constipation if you want this to change. They also cause inflammation.Grind up pumpkin seed and add to a banana smoothie - adds fibre and will help kill tapeworm. If you see any tapeworm segments you will need to eradicate the tapeworm. We used Paragone, and it took about 6 months of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. No real sign of it until finally one day there was one bowel movement which was half poop and half tapeworm. Unravelled to 7 feet. this came out of my 4 1/2 year old son. Multiple stool samples before this came back negative, so don't count on them to be accurate. Tapeworms actually stun the intestines so that they do not contract as often, which slows the food down in your intestines and allows the tapeworm to absorb the nutrients from the food you eat. They also cause inflammation.

Grind up pumpkin seed and add to a banana smoothie - adds fibre and will help kill tapeworm.

Chlorella is good.

Grapefruit Seed Extract - great for yeast

Olive Leaf Extract and ic good for bacteria and get the bile production up and will help kill tapeworm.

Resveratrol

Cod liver oil and NutraSea Vege oil - this is important because it is great for the brain and also makes the poop softer.

Magnesium will help.

Probiotics very important.

Went through a phase of diarrhea that was hot and bubbly too. That was yeast. Olive leaf extract, and GSE took care of that.

Hi , that is amazing what you said about your son's tapeworm. My son has tested negative for parasites twice in the last year, but the more I find out about them, the more I think he might have worms of some type. What made you persevere for 6 months on Paragon when you had negative test results?

It hurts.

Miracle Fiber from Vitamin Shoppe works great for us, sometimes w/a spash of Mag

Cit (or more if it's really bad). We haven't been to the emergency room in

months.

Hi Soraya,I knew the test results were wrong, because when I first started using the Aloe Vera juice he immediately had yellow stinky diarrhea. At that time he was in diapers still. I changed his diaper and then about 5 minutes later I could smell that his bum was dirty again. When I had a look there was very little diarrhea, but there was something cream coloured that looked like a piece of rigatoni with a slight lip on one side. I had a hunch it was a tapeworm segment and went online to find pictures. It didn't take long to find a photo that looked just like what was in his diaper. That made me think back to a time when I saw something else in his diaper that did not make sense at the time. It was when he was quite young, before 1 year old. It was the first of the morning diaper, and just had pee in it. But right under his anus was a pile of round gel like things. The pile was so symmetrical, and I thought that it was gel from his diaper. But that didn't really make sense because there was no obvious rip in the lining or anything else to explain what it would be. I tossed the diaper away, but afterward I remember thinking I should have taken it to the doctor to see. I decided if I saw it again I would, but that was the only I saw the gel-like things in his diaper. I now believe those were tapeworm eggs. With the memory of those round gel things and the segment that came out later with the diarrhea when he was almost 4, I knew I had a tapeworm to deal with. I felt so guilty for not taking that pile of gel to the doctor. What was most frustrating was that the stool samples just kept coming back negative. I was so glad I stuck to treating for it. I have been thinking maybe I should start again, because I am not certain that I got the head. I had to stop because his food sensitivity test was positive to black wall nut (which is in the Paragone) and I needed to stop giving it to him. If the test If the head was left in his body then it will have grown back again.Oh I forgot to add Bromelain to the list of supplements in my previous e-mail. Bromelain comes from pineapple, and is handy with digestion. I also found out that in some countries they use Pineapple to help get rid of tapeworms so I added it to Stan's supplements. It also works good as an anti-inflammatory so it was a good multi purpose supplement.Hi , that is amazing what you said about your son's tapeworm. My son has tested negative for parasites twice in the last year, but the more I find out about them, the more I think he might have worms of some type. What made you persevere for 6 months on Paragon when you had negative test results? My son used to do exactly the same thing. He would pee in the toilet, but would get a pull up and put it on and then stand in a corner in his bedroom to poop. He was badly constipated with little black goat poops. We have fixed this and he now has mostly normal looking poops and sits on the toilet with no problem. It was a long road to where we are now.You absolutely need to get rid of the constipation if you want this to change. Don't use things like Miralax if you can avoid them. Things we used to get here are:Psyllium husk is good to add bulk to stool.Make sure they drink lots of water.Aloe vera added to juice. 2 ounces 2x day. If you get really stinky yellow  diarrhea when you first start. Don't stop. This is good. Keep your eyes open for segments of tapeworm. This is what happened with us.Tapeworms actually stun the intestines so that they do not contract as often, which slows the food down in your intestines and allows the tapeworm to absorb the nutrients from the food you eat. They are not.Chlorella is good.Grapefruit Seed Extract - great for yeastOlive Leaf Extract and ic good for bacteria and get the bile production up and will help kill tapeworm.ResveratrolCod liver oil and NutraSea Vege oil - this is important because it is great for the brain and also makes the poop softer.Magnesium will help.Probiotics very important.Went through a phase of diarrhea that was hot and bubbly too. That was yeast. Olive leaf extract, and GSE took care of that.Today, if I forget the pumpkin seeds, magnesium, oils, or turrneric we see more constipation but nothing like the black goat poops he used to have.Any questions, please ask. This is so important to get under control. Stan is now 5 1/2 and has up to 3 poops a day (while sitting on the toilet) and for the most part they all look great.I've read about this before. Try putting a stool under his feet so he feels steady and stable.  hth-TammyFrom:  Mom Sent: Wed, February 9, 2011 11:21:18 AMSubject:  doesn't sit for poop .. wants to be on this stomach Hi All,My son  doesn't sit down for poop even in his diapers.  He always want to lie on his stomach on the floor and pass motion.  I have tried to change but he doesn't listen. He wants to kneel on the couch with his legs on the floor but doesn't want to sit.Does this mean anything?  What should I do?3yrs old ASD ... will start cheltion soon

Regarding worms, I recently found dozens of worms in my son's stool. I could

not see them until I combed his stool for a CDSA. They looked like hairs, about

2.5-3 inches long, slightly thicker than a hair. At first I thought it was a

hair. I sent off about 7 worms to genova and the test came back NEGATIVE! I

told my LLMD about this and he felt they were filaria, a type of nematode. My

son's DAN wants another test --uggh, so frustrating.

So 1) a negative test does not mean that your child does not have worms in their

stool AND 2) worms can be in the brain, lungs, heart, blood, anywhere. Why are

we only testing stool?

Treat your kid for worms if they have : teeth grinding, night waking,

hyperactivity, difficulty falling asleep, high ammonia, oily stools, ear wax,

wiggle their fingers near their eyes, hyperlexia, diarrhea, constipations, you

own a pet, you are fat or skinny or have any of these symptoms, etc.

Also, if you have a viral kid or a bacterial kid that must remain on meds to

seem well, those viruses or bacteria are probably living inside worms within the

body and the worms must be killed to properly erdaticate.

Long story short, just like trying to treat yeast, everyone should give treating

worms a try. You might just find the whale.

After reading and Stan's post last night, I googled images for tapeworms so I would know exactly what to look for. Holy moses! They're certainly easy to recognize. I was shocked when they reported it was 7 1/2 feet, but after looking, I guess that's pretty common. Still, to think of that in a little bitty child is awful. I will never look at poop the same again, and I doubt I'll be simply flushing without a more thorough investigation anytime soon. lol. My poor dog---I find myself looking at him with very suspicious eyes. lol

Hi Ana,I got some bromelin for my son in powder form. The direction said to give 1/16th of a tsp in water but it doesn't say how often. i found it very helpful for him to give it twice a day since it has the enzyme in it for digestion too, as well as the anti inflammatory helping his headaches. Ever since I used it he practically do not need the other enzyme.

Also, I read about coconut that is being used to de-worm people. Some countries use it regularly once a month to keep themselves healthy and get rid of worms.I had worm problem with my son, who contracted it in school. No medicine could get rid of it and I had to resort to coconut. It really worked, but I still do maintenance on him once a month. Coconut seems to work very well for so many things as well as the pineapple.

Wow!! I just read this- but I posted this-----I am still a newbie but I know how a lot of your children suffer from gut issues. Our son does as well. His stools are almost always mushy. Today he did have a almost solid stool but is was really weird. Rather than a shiny coating it had a very "snotty" looking one and when I examined it it looked like there were pieces of hair in it-- One long strand and then a bunch of small ones. He hasn't celery or pineapple in his juices that I juice since Sunday.

Could it be ginger or something else? He is on 2 different probiotics, VitD-3, Cod liver, Calcium, Multivitamin, and B12 shots as well as on the SCD diet. I have limited his sugar intake to only 2 servings a day and he gets most of his veggies through juicing. We are heading out to see Dr. Goldberg in the beginning of March. I am at a loss. We aren't seeing any verbal gains on B12- he will be 4 in May and he used to say some words but we lost everything slowly after giving him the perservative free Flu vaccine last year. He is also grinning his teeth a lot and is posturing on furniture a lot these days. Any suggestions, comments would really be appreciated. There are many of you that seem to be or have been in our

situation. Thanks. :)How do you treat worms and yeast? We are not on any anti-virals or anti-fungals yet. To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Thu, February 10, 2011 9:02:52 AMSubject: Re: Re: doesn't sit for poop .. wants to be on this

I have seen those too. He still has those. I also thought it might be a hair. Mentioned to my DAN but she didn't know what it was. I will need to mention Filaria to my DAN and see what she says. Are your "hairs" white/light in colour? We also have some smaller ones that are harder to see and really fine. They are about 1/2-3/4 inch long.I definitely agree everyone should be treating for worms. Pick the natural treatment that will the widest variety. I had the benefit of seeing what was coming out in Stan's diaper. Now that he is toilet trained for #1 and #2 and going to school it will be much more difficult to track what is going on.Thanks for the additional info. Unfortunately I didn't keep it or photograph it. I don't know why. It was pretty stupid actually, I should have taken the bloody thing to my MD but it was the weekend and I just didn't want to keep it around for a few days in my fridge (to keep it preserved). I did take a shot of the next bowel movement that had a bunch of things that looked sort of like jelly fish. I think those were the larval stage, but can't say for certain. Yes, his constipation has gotten much better since he passed it, and I have seen some wonderful improvements in him. Anxiety and flight response which lead to hand biting and head hitting are the main issues now. Sensory issues to. Thinking this may be a lasting effect from the neurotoxins that the worm/worms have released inside his poor little body.Oh my goodness! You must have been horrified and thrilled all at the same time! (Horrified it had been in there and thrilled it was out.) I have to ask - what did you do with the worm?
