Guest guest
I use Klaire Vitalzymes. They are chewable, and they taste good. I have also been known to use Tummy Zyme and they taste like candy...so easy to put in the lunch... laura > > Can anyone suggest a good enzyme that works well for your kids? Guest guest
What about Trienza chewables? Enzymes Can anyone suggest a good enzyme that works well for your kids? I’ve never had success mixing enzymes in my son’s food—he does not like his food tampered with—but he’s starting to take things in his juice, so I’d love to start giving him enzymes. Also, how do I give my son enzymes when he’s at school? Thanks! Soraya
Guest guest
Hmm, I can give those a shot but my little guy's such a stinker about taking meds/supps by mouth. I'm not sure he'll chew anything. I've offered him the klaires chewables a few times but apparently he didn't like how it looked b/c he handed it back (he's basically non-verbal). I'll try again though. If that doesn't work, what about kirkman's dpp-iv isogest? What about Trienza chewables? Enzymes Can anyone suggest a good enzyme that works well for your kids? Guest guest
Soraya, I take the back of a spoon and crush the good tasting enzymes..(like Klaires) and stick it in juice. If he drinks, he probably won't notice if it's sweet. (I used to do pineapple juice 2oz, and 6oz water, and then 3 crushed vitalzymes.) laura > > > > What about Trienza chewables? > > > > * Enzymes > > > > Can anyone suggest a good enzyme that works well for your kids? Guest guest
Thanks, laura! So your son was drinking 8 oz before each meal? My son likes to sip, never really drinking large amounts at one time. I'll try crushing a chewable in a little juice. That'll probably work. Thanks very much! Guest guest
Yes. He eats like a horse!! He used to eat like a bird...but we don't really have those issues anymore. It's taken us a year and a half to get here... For breakfast this morning, he had 3 scrambled eggs (w/sauteed onion and garlic), 2 pieces of toast with Earth Balance Soy free butter, with wild blueberry jam, 1 pear cut, and bowl (about 1/3 cup) of 'rice crispies' (Erewan Organic Brown Rice) w/rice milk. 2 hours later he had a juicer drink with all sorts of stuff...about 8 oz. (Pineapple, pear, ginger, shallot, kale, celery, carrot, beet (1/2), lemon, and cabbage) He's finally starting not to look so thin. And he's sleeping his full 12 hours at night, and gave up his nap! Honestly, I never thought we'd get to this point... laura > > > > > > > > What about Trienza chewables? > > > > > > > > * Enzymes > > > > > > > > Can anyone suggest a good enzyme that works well for your kids? Guest guest
Just pack a Trienza chewable in his lunch. Guest guest
Our schools reject chewable thingies that look like medication at all (even a cough drop looking candy) so I open up our enzymes, and add them to melted white chocolate, put them in molds and refrigerate. Pretty easy to do if I can do it. We use Digest Spectrum by Enzymedica. They are the ones that make Gluten Ease. 90 caps (one month) are about 35$Be careful with the white choc you use, as some have milk fat and/or soy lecithin. I decided it was ok for my kids to have these but your kid might be more sensitive. :-) The nice thing is, they are " candy " (so child will consume!) and you can also buy molds that look like their favorite things, like for instance I bought some Toy Story ones. You could even get fancy and color them with natural colors, but I just do plain. You heat the chocolate, not the enzymes, by the way. Just pack a Trienza chewable in his lunch. Guest guest
I have the same question. The intructions from Enzymedica say that you can not give Digest or even Gluteneasy with hot food. Re: Re: Enzymes I love that idea, Toni. Very creative. Just so I'm clear, once I pour the melted chocolate into the molds, then I mix in the enzyme, into the hot chocolate, and then cool the mixture? The enzyme won't be damaged by being mixed into the heated chocolate? Guest guest
Ok this is what I do. I break up a choc bar into a ceramic bowl. It's like one of those hateful bowls that when you nuke it, the food doesn't get hot but the bowl gets the temperature of the sun. Stupid f-ing bowl :-) I nuke the choc on 50% power (very important) for one minute.Remove the bowl with gloves. The bowl will be hot, the bar will NOT be hot, or not even melted. Don't worry.Grab a spoon and mix up the choc bar. As you mix it, the bar will melt due to the heat of the bowl. This process should take about a minute. If the choc is not melting, you may heat the bowl again, 50% power, for no more than 30 seconds. If you were to touch this choc it would not be hot. It would be melted and " warm. " Next time I make them I will check the temperature of the choc to let you know.I then add 10-12 capsule contents to the bowl. I mix it up good. Then I spoon into the mold, which is approx 10-12 molds. So fingers crossed you are getting 1 capsule per molded choc.Into the fridge, ready in probably 10 minutes. I know one morning I was out and I was able to make them before we left for school. Obviously I'd done it many times before, but just saying, it's not a long time in the fridge. We have been doing it this way for months but I have no idea (no scientific evidence) that the enzymes are happily at work. The reason we are doing it this way is that I went thru the trouble of having a doc note written, and then when I turned it into the nurse, she says the note has to be on their special form. It pissed me off and I never bothered to go thru the trouble of faxing the form to the DAN. It has to be one form per " medicine " and it just seemed ridiculous. I guess looking back it would have been easier to do the paperwork, but again the kids really like their special treat, and now that I do it, they'd miss it. I love that idea, Toni. Very creative. Just so I'm clear, once I pour the melted chocolate into the molds, then I mix in the enzyme, into the hot chocolate, and then cool the mixture? Guest guest
I just called Enzymedica and the lady on the phone said they become inactive at 170 degrees? I have the same question.
