The stupid surgeon who o put in the PD opening put it too low on my abdomen, so here I am on hemo for the rest of my life. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Childs Sent: Sunday, December 11, 2011 7:20 AM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Re: congratulations on your transplants Re: Sherbet ice cream Yeah, I didn't know much about kidney problems at that time. I was feeling pretty lousy the day I arrived at the hospital. I started out on hemo dialysis, but I had been switched to peritoneal dialysis, when I had the transplant. Mine went up to 4 and I felt awful. My legs were swollen and I was short of breath. I am not eligible for a transplant, so I think it is wonderful that the 2 of you have such successful ones. _____ From: mailto:blind-diabetics%40yahoogroups.com [mailto:mailto:blind-diabetics%40yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Childs Sent: Saturday, December 10, 2011 7:53 AM To: mailto:blind-diabetics%40yahoogroups.com Subject: RE: congratulations on your transplants Re: Sherbet ice cream Hi , Thank you. I went to my family doctor and he drew blood and told me that my kidney function wasn't quite normal. He told me he would be keeping an eye on it. A few weeks went by and the function gradually got worse. I had swelling in my ankles, but didn't really feel bad until my number hit 10.0 and the kidney specialist announced it was time to start dialysis. _____ From: mailto:blind-diabetics%40yahoogroups.com <mailto:blind-diabetics%40yahoogroups.com> [mailto:mailto:blind-diabetics%40yahoogroups.com <mailto:blind-diabetics%40yahoogroups.com> ] On Behalf Of Lora Leggett Sent: Friday, December 09, 2011 6:23 PM To: mailto:blind-diabetics%40yahoogroups.com <mailto:blind-diabetics%40yahoogroups.com> Subject: Re: congratulations on your transplants Re: Sherbet ice cream Congratulations to both of you, Sugar and , for doing so well with your kidneys. One thing I have never gotten an answer to no matter who I asked and this goes back to 1978 when and I drove a patient to dialysis three times a week back then. What symptoms tell you something is wrong with your kidney or kidneys? You are going along living your life and what happens to alert you that something is not right? I worry how would I ever know about that?
