Guest guest
I'm new with this IE stuff, been reading the book. We always have plenty of junk in the house. I get into it then feel bad about myself and feel like a failure. I eat 3 healthy meals then have a snack in the afternoon. I lost about 100lbs a few times. I'm kind of stuck. I know your group is not about wt, size or restricting food. Just kind of puzzels me. I do exercise and like my personally, just not my body image. Would like to loose cause of lack of $ to buy bigger sizes. I guess I'll keep reading and see if I get the info from book. I don't think when eating a lot of junk, just do it and then feel bad about myself. I should think about what I'm doing and reach out. Guest guest
Hi Cheryl: Have you read the chapter about legalizing food in the IE book? As long as you consider food either 'healthy' or 'junk', you label food 'good' or 'bad'. So you think you are 'good' when you eat the 'good' food and think you are bad when you eat the 'bad' food. When you think you are bad, you feel bad about yourself and may need to eat even more 'bad' food to comfort yourself. Or you may tell yourself that you won't eat that 'bad' food anymore. So you eat as much as you can while you can, before you restrict yourself. That prevents you from ever learning to eat moderately whatever food you labeled 'junk' or 'bad'. I do believe there are 'good' and 'bad' foods for each person, but not according to calories or fat grams or any weight gain indice. I have 7 diagnosed food allergies. Some of my allergies are the exact foods that 'health gurus' consider 'good for you', like dairy, soy and whole wheat. So I eat the foods that feel good in my body (don't cause painful reactions), despite what the health gurus say about those foods. My 'healthy' foods include allergy free cookies, fudge, carrot cake and ice cream (made from coconut milk). If I don't have a diagnosed allergy to a food and I like how that food satisfies my hunger and feels in my body, I consider that a 'healthy' food. So unless you have painful physical reactions to certain foods (other than discomfort from overeating), consider all foods 'innocent' until proven 'guilty' by allergy tests or painful reactions.
