Guest guest
Hi Dawn.... *****I was going to say that I don't agree with your Rheumy in that DM doesn't bring on pain, but then I guess I'm not sure if that's true or not. I KNOW PM does and Rheumy's say that all the time.**** It's the same for both... The shoulder muscles are involved in DM and PM. And, there is a lot of pain in that area. If Lynn's CPK's are in the 1900's (that's if I remembered it correctly) that would explain why her shoulders hurt so much. Not to mention all the arm movement she's been doing with a high CPK. What said is very correct. A little is fine and a little activity is great. But when your CPK is high... damage to the muscles can happen. I agree to NOT give in to this disease..... but to keep active all the time is harmful. If a doctor also says the pain is due to arthritis... ask to be tested to find out what type you have. Even when I felt horrible but my labs were normal, I was told to walk a little but no lifting and do not do anything that could hurt me or cause me to push myself. Rest, rest and more rest was told to me. I never gave in to the disease, I just respected it and did what I could every day. I still had to feed my horses and dogs so that was more than enough for a while. The more you push the further you go backwards...
