Guest guest
Kasey, I have absolutely no experience with rx antivirals, so this is simply a very humble opinion. I've been reading and learning an awful lot about stress lately and the havoc it wrecks in our bodies. Sometimes, even doing the right thing or making the healthy choice can be stressful, too -furthering the issues instead of helping - especially when it's a shock to the system. A shock, good or bad, is still a shock. As much of a cliche as the word has become, stress is very dangerous to our well being. This may be more than your child can take right now. There is no right or wrong answer, here. People will argue that stopping may cause the virus to mutate, but adding that much stress to his body can be just as bad - so we choose our demon, you know? You are a wonderful mother doing everything she can to help her child beat a nasty disease. Follow your gut. If you feel it's more than he (or the rest of your family) can take, stop. Let his body rest and gain strength. Do everything you can nutritionally and emotionally to build up his immune system. Perhaps you could try a nice, steady low flow of natural antivirals while you work on building up strength. This has got to seriously be wearing down your family. It WILL make the rest of the house sick and tired. Literally. If you do decide to stop, it might be a good idea to get feedback from people who have experience w/ valtrex about stopping cold turkey or tapering off. My prayers go out to you and your family. Remember lots and lots of love and hugs and acceptance...it's the very best remedy for anything!!Keep us posted-TammyTo: mb12 valtrex Sent: Sat, January 29, 2011 12:10:31 PMSubject: Re: Don't know how much more I can take...... I wish I had something to offer here. Sadly, I don't. Maybe it's worth switching from Valtrex to another antiviral? Cheryl ~http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com~~@Gryffins_Tail~ I wrote a few days ago how awful this regression has been from the valtrex and diflucan....and someone suggested to go back and read Stan's paper which I did. It's been about 5 weeks and seriously I don't know how much longer I can watch him hit his head and bite and scratch himself/others. I am afraid he is going to hurt his sister. I can tell something is coming out of him right now because he is very raspy and sounds like his throat hurts. How bad do you let it get before you call it quits.....it is really affecting everyone in our home..... -- Kasey
Guest guest
Kasey, What does your doctor say about the regresion or reaction to Valtrex & Diflucan - some prescribe hydrocortisone to help with it. Maybe something you can discuss with your doctor if it makes sense for your child. To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Sat, January 29, 2011 9:10:31 AMSubject: Re: Don't know how much more I can take...... Guest guest
, I know my son has PANDAS.....we did 6 months of IVIG and it as going well until his anxiety and OCD got so bad we could not come near him with the IV. No matter how much sedation we tried it always backfired. So - we had to stop and it broke my heart because I felt like it was helping him. So then we did the respen A which he is still on - and it did a really nice job of putting him more on an even keel....but not really helping much else. So I wanted to try the antiviral.....I just don't know what to do, because you're right....he could have been exposed to something else and this would happen. He has these bouts when he is sick....that's part of the issue.....it is just so stressful and taxing....and my husband has an especially difficult time with it....just don't know what to do anymore.....we have done almost every therapy out there..... -- Kasey Dettinger ---- Fund wrote: > We did 80 days of valtrex w/ my 13 yr old son last winter. The first 3 weeks were fine and then he broke out in rashes all over and his behavior became dangerous to himself and others. I do feel he responded cause of the rasheds but we could not safely continue. WHat I did not realize at the time was that he has PANDAS and was most likely exposed to strep around that time. The PANDAS caused the wild behavior and not the valtrex. You may have something else going on. > Â > > > > > > > Subject: Don't know how much more I can take...... > To: mb12 valtrex > Date: Saturday, January 29, 2011, 10:19 AM > > > Â > > > > I wrote a few days ago how awful this regression has been from the valtrex and diflucan....and someone suggested to go back and read Stan's paper which I did. Guest guest
Kasey, OLE and Enhansa (with No-Phenol) helped my son. It took 3 weeks and we had on and off fevers, but he stopped kissing the walls (literally). Guest guest
Did these behaviors start immediately or a week or two after starting? He may be having an ammonia problem from killing off so many bugs. Try some yucca root and upping his probiotics. Threelac is a good probiotic for this. Also for ammonia L-citrulline and AKG are good as well. Good luck! > > I wrote a few days ago how awful this regression has been from the valtrex and diflucan....and someone suggested to go back and read Stan's paper which I did. Guest guest
I just stopped at day 50 of high dose (had been doing low dose valtrex since april10) because of the meltdowns, all the negatives in school, etc. I stopped because I can't take it anymore with no gains and only negatives. > > > > > > I wrote a few days ago how awful this regression has been from the valtrex and diflucan....and someone suggested to go back and read Stan's paper which I did.
