Guest guest
When my son had his first episode, stopped breathing , they tested him for everything under the son. the only thing came back positive (barely, but still positive) is Klebsiella Pneumonia. . They were shocked, and so was I, but they did not about it. Please update me if you find out more about this, or even TX. ThanksP/S its been 1 year and 6 months when this test was performed Tunde Two weeks ago I gave my son a suppository without a glove (bad idea mommy) and immediately developed a severe infection in my finger. I expected it was a hangnail that had been infected with ecoli, but it worsened so I've gotten a culture on it and received results that it's ' Klebsiella Pheumenioa', an infection which only occurs in alcoholic old men and people with immune disease. Neither apply to myself so my theory is that my little boy's carrying this bizarre strain....anyone heard of it? -- " Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. Guest guest
It's not only in alcoholic old men. It's quite common and most guts have it. It's the *amount* that is an issue and with our kids and their bad gut/immune issues, it can mess up the gut. Because you had an open wound and you put your gloveless finger where you shouldn't have (doh!), it just passed from him to you because fecal matter will carry it out. The pooper harbors all the yucky germs in the gut.Like clostridia, it doesn't cause a problem for most people and doesn't turn nasty. But in our kids, even a little bit can cause more issues than we care to think about. You'll never get rid of it completely but the goal is to have enough good bacteria in the gut to keep the bad bacteria in check. You can treat with Rx abx, and probiotics or you could try Uva Ursi (2 weeks on/2weeks off rotation - very important, long term use is toxic) and probiotics. Guest guest
Klebsiella is pretty common in the ASD population. You need an antibiotic to treat it. When treating the gut as you kill off yeast bacteria moves in which is what klebsiella is. Guest guest
My son and I have chronic klebsiella. I used to have it in urine tests years ago. We have cultured it in my son's stool and also on an oral culture on myself. Many kids with autism have this. We treat on long term antibiotics. Guest guest
Thank you Tammy for addressing this to me. it sure makes more sense than any other theory they had.Tunde When I was reading about ringworm and parasites last night, I saw a couple of different articles that said seizures might be a sign of parasites. While your son's episodes might not be seizures in the conventional sense, I'd say it's worth considering - especially since they found a postive. You might be on to something. -Tammy To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Thu, February 10, 2011 12:14:37 PMSubject: Re: klebsiella pheumenioae infection When my son had his first episode, stopped breathing , they tested him for everything under the son. the only thing came back positive (barely, but still positive) is Klebsiella Pneumonia. .
