Guest guest
Hi, Sue, I have a big desire to reward myself with food, too. I find hard times for me are when I leave the office (I only go in twice a week, which is good 'cuz otherwise I'd probably murder my boss), or after a long day of doing things I'd rather not have had to do. You may have already done this, but I've found it helpful to develop a list of things to do to reward myself other than eating--an actual list that is written out and consulted when you're feeling the urge to eat to reward yourself. The things that work best for me are activities that engage my mind and so take it off food. I rarely go shopping recreationally, but there are some places I love to browse in, so these are the times I go to the garden centers I love if I am home, or I call a friend or my sister, or I go work in the yard, or give myself permission just to lie down and read and snuggle with my ies and maybe nap. Sometimes I tackle a project like cleaning a closet, which is something I actually like to do, if I'm in the mood. On the commute home from the office, I let myself stop at every HomeGoods and Marshall's on route, and I just browse around and waste time, rarely buying anything. The object of these trips is to entertain myself, not to buy something. On those nights, I call my husband and tell him to make himself something frozen for dinner because I'll be later than usual, and I make sure to keep those things on hand that he actually likes and can make for himself with a little side salad. That also means I don't have to cook dinner when I get home: another treat! Laurie bored today I have been really aware of wanting to eat today, especially after I finished cleaning up the house. I was able to check in with my hunger level and I was not hungry, but thought I should be "rewarded" for my work. So I didn't eat! since then, however, I haven't really had much to do and I feel like my mind keeps wandering to food...I am (at least so far) able to keep checking my hunger level and not eating unless I'm hungry, but it has been quite interesting today. I guess that I am usually a lot busier and I haven't noticed how easily I want to eat when I'm bored!!! This is an amazing journey! Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestions, Laurie! Last night I played games on the computer for a couple of hours. I don't allow myself to eat at the computer, so I did well! Hi, Sue, I have a big desire to reward myself with food, too.
