While his behavior improved on the mb12 significantly, he became overly sensitive, weepy, clingy with OCD. His DAN wanted him to try folinic acid again even though I told her that in the past, it made him extremely hyper. She wants me to try it for a month! Today, after taking 200 mcg of folinic acid for 3 days, he got in trouble at school for being " too goofy. " This means very stimmy and disruptive to the class (he hasn't been in trouble since Sept.) Has anyone else had this experience w/ folinic acid? I am so frustrated.... Am I really supposed to allow my son to get in trouble at school? How can I try this for a month? I feel like his doctors are not listening to me! >

Guest guest
Thank you, everyone, for all of your responses and suggestions. Christel, I've heard that before. Do you know why he does so great on Folapro? I'm starting to look into the Yasko Protocol since my son does not tolerate many supplements that are so helpful to others. Whenever he doesn't do well on a supplement, I want to know why because I feel like that's so important to solving this puzzle. Does your son tolerate B6? Mine does not, and I've been trying to figure out why for the longest time. Most DAN doctors and nurses have just said to stay away from it, but he's deficient in B6, and I feel he needs it. I really wish his doctor would help me figure out why he doesn't tolerate B6! Thank you again for your insights. > > > > what brand are you trying? > > > > > > > > From: jkryan34 > > Sent: Thursday, January 27, 2011 6:01 PM > > To: mb12 valtrex > > Subject: Bad reaction to folinic acid > > > > > > > > My son's new DAN just prescribed 200mcg of folinic acid in addition to his mb12 which he has been on for 2 months. Guest guest
He hasn't had failure to thrive but is in the 25th percentile for weight (75th for height). However, he is only 4 pounds heavier than his younger brother (they are 2 1/2 years apart). I feel like he should be heavier. He is also 2 pounds lighter than I was when I was his age (He is 5 1/2 now and weighs between 38 and 39 lbs). He does have poor muscle tone I think. I have tried the B6 in pyrodoxine and P5P forms AND combined with the magnesium (Kirkman brand). No matter how much or how little I give him, he becomes an emotional mess- very depressed, weepy w/ meltdowns, mean, and obsessive. It's awful to see. I feel he must have some genetic polymorphisms going that Yasko talks about. So frustrating when your child needs a nutrient but cannot tolerate it. Many things seem to make him worse like B6, methyl b12, folinic acid, and DHA. > > > > > > what brand are you trying? > > > > > > > > > > > > From: jkryan34 > > > Sent: Thursday, January 27, 2011 6:01 PM > > > To: mb12 valtrex > > > Subject: Bad reaction to folinic acid > > > > > > > > > > > > My son's new DAN just prescribed 200mcg of folinic acid in addition to his mb12 which he has been on for 2 months. Guest guest
that may mean you are lacking in something else to absorb it.....I can pull out my charts tommorrow and do a walk through and see what cycles are blocked up. do you do any enzymes? what does his diet look like? does he have yeast issues, the b12 nad b6 can kick up yeast (and both would be high phenols I would think as well) do you have a kid with phenol issues?
